Skip to the content Safeguarding Athletes Research Hindrances to cultivating a safer sporting environment Menu * Home * Research * Related Projects * Team * Publications * News Close Menu * Home * Research * Related Projects * Team * Publications * News WELCOME Scroll Down ‘Hindrances to cultivating a safer sporting environment’ is a one-year research project, funded by the Olympic Studies Centre of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as part of its Advanced Olympic Research Grant Programme. The project investigates safeguarding policies and practices in South Korea’s elite sport development system. More particularly, it focuses on three main institutional, social and cultural obstacles to developing a safer sporting environment, such as crisis-driven policy development, slippages between the central and the frontline, East Asian role-bearing relational hierarchy, perverse effects of the safeguarding measures.
