From meeting Santa in the snow to festive-themed afternoon tea, when it comes to
celebrating Christmas this city knows how.

Here’s our pick of the things to do to feel utterly festive in Dubai this
Christmas.

ATTEND RAFFLES THE PALM’S CHRISTMAS TREE-LIGHTING EVENT

Ready to embrace all things Christmas? Raffles The Palm will host its annual
Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Wednesday December 6. Prepare to be in awe
as the tree’s covered in decorations twinkles and sparkles. Santa will visit and
you can get your fill of festive grub.

GO TO CHRISTMAS CHEER AT THE IRISH VILLAGE, STUDIO CITY

On Sunday December 10, there’s an evening of festive cheer taking place at The
Irish Village in Studio City. Head here for 7pm and enjoy a Christmas choir
singing all your favourite songs, before a Christmas carol singalong with Ciran
Fox between 8.15pm and 9.15pm.

VISIT DINNER BY HESTON BLUMENTHAL FOR A ONE-OFF PAIRING DINNER WITH EXCLUSIVE
DISHES

On Wednesday December 13, Dinner by Heston will host an exclusive pairing dinner
in association with Gault&Millau and Château Lynch-Bages. The dinner is a
one-off opportunity to try dishes not currently available on Dinner’s Dubai
menu, alongside the Bordeaux producer’s unique selection of paired beverages.

EXPLORE MADINAT JUMEIRAH’S FESTIVE MARKET

Madinat Jumeirah’s Festive Market returns to Dubai on Friday December 15.
Delicious festive food and beverages will be available, as well as plenty of fun
activities for the kiddos. It is truly a great way to get ready to rock around
the Christmas tree.

SEE CHRISTMAS AT THE MOVIES – A LIVE CONCERT

Sing along to merry favourites at the Christmas at the Movies – A Live Concert,
which brings together Christmas movie songs belted out by a crew of singers and
a live band. Tunes you can expect include It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like
Christmas (Home Alone 2); Believe (Polar Express); Ring in the Season (Frozen);
One More Sleep ‘Til Christmas (Muppet Christmas Carol); and All I Want for
Christmas is You! (Love Actually).

This new Italian restaurant is inviting guests to enjoy a special four-course
menu that’s available for both lunch and dinner between Sunday December 24 and
Tuesday December 26. Start with octopus salad with potatoes, or vitello tonnato,
followed by ravioli al tartufo or timballo alla bolognese. For the main course,
choose from filetto di wagyu con porcini – or the spigola con vongole e spinaci
before ending with almond-glazed panettone con mascarpone.

BELT OUT THOSE CHRISTMAS BANGERS AT FIBBERS’ SUNDAY TRAD SESSIONS

Could there be anything more festive than a classic pub teeming in Christmas
decs? Well, yes actually. That would be Fibber Magee’s, which has all the
wreaths and baubles and fairy lights you could want, plus a massive dose of
nostalgia in the form of its special Christmas Sunday Trad sessions. Musicians
that may have never even met, let alone played together, gather in the middle of
this Irish pub and perform pretty much non-stop for three hours. It’s loud, it’s
lively, it’s absolutely brilliant. Plus there’s happy hour from 1pm-7pm and
roast dinners served all day. Just get there early if you want to be sure of a
seat (or else the ever-growing band might nab them all).
