10 UFC FIGHTERS AND THE ACTORS THAT COULD PLAY THEM IN A MOVIE

If a movie was made about a fighter in the UFC, who would be the actor to play
that fighter?
This was a question that was posed to me, interested me, and I was intrigued to
find out.
Before embarking on a quest to find the actors that could play the fighter in
question, I had to set some guidelines and criteria.
One of my criteria was that the actor has to bear some physical resemblance to
the fighter. I mean, it wouldn't make sense if Danny DeVito was cast to play
Jose Aldo would it?
Next, I decided that the fighter needed to have an interesting enough life story
for it to be made into a movie.
However, the problem with this, is that some of the more intriguing stories of
fighters did not have anyone that bore any resemblance to the fighter. If I just
picked any actor to portray any fighter, there would be no need for this
slideshow.
With these factors and more in mind, I set off to find the actors that would
play the fighters if a movie was made about them.
Bear in mind, this is a light hearted piece.
So without further ado, here are the actors I have selected that could
potentially portray fighters, if movies were made about them.
CUBA GOODING JR. AS RASHAD EVANS

Cuba Gooding Jr. is best known for his role in Jerry Maguire, in which he played
an arrogant football star, Ron Tidwell.
There are many similarities between Rod Tidwell and Rashad Evans. Both are cocky
and confident and on the verge of greatness.
Furthermore, Tidwell is a character that is struggling to acquire the contract
that he desires, while Rashad is struggling to land a title shot despite having
earned it many times previously.
The point is, Cuba Gooding Jr. has already a played a character that resembles
Rashad Evans in many ways, and therefore, he can comfortably step into the role
of playing this fighter.
DANNY MCBRIDE AS ROY NELSON

Have we all see that episode of The Simpsons where Homer decides to become a
boxer? To remind you, in this episode, Homer becomes a boxer because he finds
out that he can take heavy punches as his fat absorbs the impact of the strike.
That episode could form a foundation for a comedic story-line.
Danny McBride is best known for his roles in Pineapple Express and Tropic
Thunder, and in this movie he could star as Roy Nelson, a fighter who is
struggling with weight issues yet is capable of beating some top contenders.
BEN STILLER AS KENNY FLORIAN

Kenny Florian is nicknamed Zoolander because of his uncanny resemblance to Ben
Stiller.
Now, I can't remember the last time that Ben Stiller appeared in a serious role
so this movie would almost certainly have to be a comedy.
Stiller is best known for his roles in such films as Tropic Thunder and Along
Came Polly, and he would be just the man to present MMA in a light-hearted and
humorous fashion, which for a sport as serious as MMA, is actually a good
thing.
The storyline for this movie could lie somewhere in the fact that Kenny Florian
has competed in numerous different weight divisions and is struggling to find
major success in each of the divisions that he has competed in, from
middleweight to featherweight.
JIM CARREY AS RICH FRANKLIN

Ever wondered why Rich Franklin is nicknamed "Ace"? It's because of his striking
resemblance to Jim Carrey who once starred in Ace Ventura.
Rich Franklin was once a math teacher in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio where
he even has his own day on the 21st of every February.
Franklin made the jump to MMA in 1999 and he eventually became a champion in the
middleweight division.
This would serve as the foundation for a storyline.
Jim Carrey is best known for his roles in films such as Bruce Almighty, Liar,
Liar and The Truman Show. These are all films that have made us laugh.
However, Jim Carrey has shown us that he can play a serious role, as he did in
Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind, and this could be important skill to have
in a film to do with MMA.
CHRISTIAN BALE AS CHAEL SONNEN

Well, I wonder what the storyline could be here?
Let's see. Chael Sonnen became the closest man to defeating one of the greatest
fighters on the planet but did not prevail.
It is then revealed that Sonnen failed a post-fight drugs test, and he is now
being accused of money laundering in a court of law.
The question, is whether Christian Bale could play the brash and loud-mouthed
Chael Sonnen. After hearing his foul-mouthed rant on the set of Terminator:
Salvation, I say yes, he can.
Christian Bale is known for his exceptional portrayal of the modern version of
Batman. Because of his role in this action movie, he is more than capable of
filming the fight scenes required for this MMA movie.
JASON STATHAM AS RANDY COUTURE

It is only a matter of time before a movie is made about this iconic and
legendary fighter.
Randy Couture is an army veteran, having served in the army for six years and is
also a former NCAA Division-1 All-American.
He made the jump to MMA in 1997 at the age of 34, and he won the UFC 13
tournament in his debut. He went on to defeat top prospect, Vitor Belfort at UFC
15.
Well, we all know what happened next. Randy Couture went on to become a champion
and one of the most admired figures in the sport of MMA.
The man that would play Randy Couture has a wealth of experience in martial and
has stated several times that he respects and admires those that compete in MMA.
Jason Statham is a practitioner of Win-Chun, Kickboxing and many other fighting
systems.

After stints working as a bouncer and other various jobs, St. Pierre decided to
try his hand at MMA. Good decision.
St. Pierre went on to become one of the greatest fighters and champions in UFC
history.
Vin Diesel is renown for his roles in the Fast and the Furious franchise and
the xXx. His experience in action movies makes him a great candidate to play
Georges St. Pierre.
The only setback could be that Diesel probably won't be able pull of St.
Pierre's distinct accent.

This British actor would be perfect to capture the ferocity and intensity that
Clay Guida brings every time he steps foot into the octagon.
Lewis is famous for his roles in Gangs of New York and There Will Be Blood,
which garnered international acclaim from viewers and critics.
The storyline would be something along the lines of a fighter who has amazing
heart and determination, who has entertained and thrilled millions of fans with
his fighting but is struggling to find greatness.
As is the case with Clay Guida.

Samuel L. Jackson is one of the most famous actors in Hollywood; his roles in
Pulp Fiction and Coach Carter are critically acclaimed and have solidified his
label as a great actor.
Anderson Silva has battled adversity and personal battles on his way to becoming
one of the greatest champions the sport of MMA has ever seen.
Silva has delivered highlight reel knockouts and embarrassed opponent after
opponent whilst on his to becoming recognized as one of the greatest fighters in
MMA history.

Brian Stann is a real life action hero.
Stann commanded a battalion in Iraq and captained a perilous mission that earned
him the coveted, Silver Star.
He then made to jump to MMA and became a champion under one banner and is now on
the path to a championship under another promotion.
Matt Damon already has had experience acting in war movies. He starred in Saving
Private Ryan, and his parts in the Bourne series have also gained him acclaim.
Damon would be able to capture the emotion and drama that comes with serving as
a soldier in Iraq and would also be able to display the intensity needed to
compete in MMA, thanks to his previous roles, if Brian Stann's life was made
into a movie.
