Dear Perry,

The automotive manufacturing industry has been gradually normalising over the
past few years as it recovers from the impact of Covid disruption, and the
outlook is brighter than ever. In our recent survey, we found that just 35% of
respondents felt that disruption was their biggest manufacturing challenge
compared to 67% the previous year.

In collaboration with ABB, last October AMS conducted a comprehensive 4-week
survey, gathering insights from 63,000 automotive manufacturing experts. This
survey aimed to capture their perspectives on industry trends, gauge current
sentiment, and explore the broader industry outlook for 2024 and beyond.

KEY INSIGHT HIGHLIGHT

We asked people about the manufacturing challenges they face:

The 2020-2022 Covid pandemic inevitably pushed supply chain disruption to the
top of the agenda, with the previous 2022 survey clearly illustrating this, as
67% of respondents voted this as their number one challenge. However for the
2023 survey, supply chain disruption was still a major challenge (with 35% of
respondents reporting this), but not quite the dominant issue it previously was,
and has been notably overtaken – just – by growing labour & skills shortages
according to 36% of respondents.
