Try different of less specific keyword Posted on June 6, 2017 by Ganesh Mallaya SOFTWARE-BASED LOAD BALANCERS MUST BE MANAGED TOO Applications are everywhere. Almost every business in nearly every industry use applications in some way, shape or form. The digital revolution continues to disrupt businesses, causing the pace of application adoption to skyrocket and sending the demand for immediate response, error-free configurations through the roof. Traditional application infrastructures are coming up short as the needs of digital businesses continue to shift. Luckily, new, more advanced deployment models are on the rise, helping NetOps to transform. Teams are incorporating more agile to bring the unprecedented numbers of new applications to market at the speed of digitalization. As DevOps become more and more mainstream, many organizations are taking an interest in “non-traditional” ADCs including NGINX, HAProxy and Amazon’s ELB. A growing number of enterprises are running new applications that function across these software-based load balancing services as well as in more traditional ADCs. Open source load balancers are increasingly finding a home on e-commerce sites and in companies that can’t afford to wait on traditional IT processes. These software-based load balancers are very fast and reliable solutions that offer high availability, load balancing, and proxying for TCP and HTTP-based applications. As applications deployed on these software-based ADC services transform from internal applications to external customer-facing applications, challenges inevitably arise. For example, it is difficult to manage hundreds of applications on these services given the lack of centralized management. DevOps and NetOps teams must be prepared to confront this major challenge as well as the others such as: * Complexity of ADC infrastructure * Difficulties addressing dynamic requests * Lack of visibility Software load balancers can help DevOps make great strides when it comes to network agility. But, without sound automated ADC management, the heterogeneous environment can introduce a new level of complexity leading to security issues. Download the white paper Orchestrating the Application Delivery Platforms of the Future: Overcoming the challenges in today’s digital age to learn how to effectively manage heterogeneous ADC environments serving mode 1 and mode 2 applications across data centers.
