WHAT IS SOLVA CARE?

Solva Care is a registered charity set up by the community residing in the
parish of Solva and Whitchurch in Pembrokeshire, Wales.

We are committed to building and sustaining a vibrant, strong and connected
community, by working closely with our Community Council and other local groups
and organisations.

Our aim is to maintain and improve the health and wellbeing of our community by
enabling our residents to stay in their own homes and remain part of their
community.  We do this by running a volunteer service to provide assistance
where needed, as well as running social events to counteract loneliness and
isolation; we also provide extra support for those caring for their relatives.

TOGETHER FOR CHANGE

Together for Change is a Pembrokeshire-wide partnership project funded by the
National Lottery COVID-19 Response Fund, Wales. The project was founded by Solva
Care – the fund holder – with partner organisations PAVS and PLANED. The
COVID-19 pandemic and its implications for society has revealed the importance
of community level organisations at a critical time, with communities responding
dynamically and compassionately to the challenges they faced.

Together for Change will bring together third and public sector organisations to
establish a positive legacy from the experiences of COVID-19 and build on the
important contribution of community-led action to the health and wellbeing of
people in Pembrokeshire.

“I VOLUNTEERED FOR SOLVA CARE BECAUSE, AS WELL AS DOING SOMETHING FOR OTHERS, IT
MAKES ME FEEL BETTER MYSELF.

THE THINGS I DO ARE SMALL, NOT ARDUOUS AND NOT PARTICULARLY TIME
CONSUMING. THERE IS NO PRESSURE AND IT CERTAINLY APPEARS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO
LOTS OF PEOPLE.

FROM A PURELY SELFISH POINT OF VIEW – I MAY NEED A LITTLE HELP MYSELF IN YEARS
TO COME!”

FIND OUT ABOUT OUR ACTIVITIES

We have something for everyone in Solva – young or old!  The mosaics columns in
Parc y Capel were a 2022 Solva Care Project, with support from Solva Community
Council. The mosaics were made by people in Solva, based on images chosen by
relatives, to commemorate those who passed away during Covid 2020-2022. Why not
join us in the afternoon for Friday Club? Or there is Thursday’s Coffee Morning
or Wednesday’s Luncheon Club?  If you need a lift to get there, just contact our
Coordinator.
