How can I check if my phone supports e-SIM?

There are several ways to check. First, you can dial USSD code *#06# . If you
see ‘EID’ mentioned on the screen, it means your phone is e-SIM compatible

Apple iPhone

 * If you have an Apple iPhone device, you can check if your phone is e-SIM
   compatible by following these steps:
 * Go to Settings > Cellular
 * if you see an ‘Add eSIM option’, your phone is eSIM compatible

Android phone

If you have an Android phone, the exact instructions to check e-SIM
compatibility will vary by device manufacturer and phone model.



 * Samsung phones
    * Go to Settings > Connections
    * Press SIM Card Manager. If you see the option ‘Add Mobile Plan’, your
      Samsung phone supports eSIM

 * Huawei phones
    * Go to Settings
    * Press About Phone
    * Press Show EID. If you see an EID number, your phone is eSIM-compatible

I am already an Ooredoo customer, and I want to switch to e-SIM. Can I keep my
current number?

Yes, you will keep your current number when switching to e-SIM. Just click on
e-SIM icon in Ooredoo SuperApp, select ‘Upgrade to e-SIM’ and follow the
instructions.

I am already an Ooredoo customer, and would like to buy an additional new e-SIM
number. Is this possible?

Yes, this is possible, as long as you currently have only 1 registered Ooredoo
number.

How to activate your e-SIM with QR code

Apple iOS

 1.  Connect to Wifi before you activate
 2.  Select ‘Settings’ & ‘Cellular’
 3.  ‘Add Cellular Plan’
 4.  Now press ‘Use QR code’
 5.  Scan the QR code that was provided
 6.  After you have scanned the QR code successfully, press ‘Add cellular plan’
 7.  Select ‘Continue’
 8.  Select your primary number for Call / Text messages
 9.  Select your primary number for Data
 10. Press ‘Confirm’ and your e-sim is now fully activated !

Android

The activation steps to activate your e-SIM for an Android vary by device
manufacturer and phone model. However, you will always start by going to the
‘Settings’ page of your device. We recommend you to check your phone manual for
exact instructions

I cannot scan the QR code that was provided for activating the e-SIM, what could
be the reason?

Make sure that the QR code is clearly and fully visible. Also, kindly ensure
that you are using the e-SIM activation QR code scanner (and not any other QR
code scanner), by following all the e-SIM activation steps provided. If you
receive a specific error message, please check the reason in answers below.

When scanning the QR code, I am receiving an error notification ‘Your e-SIM QR
code is expired, please request a new QR code.’

If you are upgrading your current Ooredoo physical SIM, you need to use your QR
code and activate your e-SIM within 24 hours after receiving it. Otherwise the
code will expire. After you activate the eSIM, your QR code will remain valid
indefinitely.

I just bought a new e-SIM phone, and I want to switch my current e-SIM to my new
e-SIM phone. How can I do this?

It’s simple and free! Just open Ooredoo SuperApp, click on the e-SIM icon and
select ‘Transfer my eSIM’. Now just follow the instructions.

Alternatively, if you still have the QR code that you used to activate your
e-SIM: deactivate the e-sim on your old device first. Go to the e-SIM activation
section on your new phone and scan the same QR code again. Follow the
instructions and it’s all set up!

What’s the cost for switching from Ooredoo physical SIM to e-SIM?

Switching to e-SIM is totally free, and can be done in just a few simple steps.
Just click on ‘Upgrade to e-SIM’ option.

I want to buy a new Ooredoo e-SIM. Are there extra fees to pay versus a regular
physical e-SIM?
