ARE THERE FEES? downpayment.gift is completely free to our users and gift donors. We do not charge fees to start a registry, receive contributions, or make a gift. Furthermore, the card processing fees from our banks integrations are free as well, paid indirectly by our partner lenders. Our partners indirectly pay transaction fees up to a cap, over which those fees are paid by downpayment.gift. IF A GUEST DONATES $100, HOW MUCH DO I GET? If a guest donates $100, you get $100. Plain and simple. We do not ask your donors, your friends and family, to... say... pay an additional $3.50 over and above. We do NOT make money from your contributions. WHY IS THIS SITE DIFFERENT THAN ALL THE OTHER CROWDFUNDING OPTIONS LIKE GOFUNDME, ETC.? downpayment.gift is focused on a providing a gift registry, crowdfunding, for down payments specifically. We understand the 'ins and outs' involved and the kind of requirements on 'gift funds' mortgage brokers/lenders will be looking for as they assist with obtaining a mortgage. It's also 100% free to use with zero fees. It's also the only zero transaction fee down payment registry that we know of. A GoFundMe campaign will cost you transaction fees, plus they will be hitting your contributors up for 15%. WHICH PAYMENT METHODS ARE ACCEPTED? We enable contributions from all major credit and debit cards. ACH transactions are coming soon. CAN MY DONORS MAKE A PLEDGE INSTEAD OF CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD? Yes, guests may pledge an amount online with a personalized message. They are encouraged to fulfill those pledges offline, at or around the campaign Target Date. We send a reminder via email and you have the ability to mark pledges as received in the dashboard. For example, in the case of a wedding down payment registry, guests may decide to bring cash or check to the wedding or send a card directly. WHAT DO THE PAGES LOOK LIKE? WHAT CAN I CUSTOMIZE? Check our the showcase of pages for sample pages. We designed the page builder to be simple to get up and going. There are limited configurations options as a result. You can customize the banner image, color scheme, fonts, your written 'Story' as a personal feature image. We recommend a picture of your smiling face (or faces). We're constantly on the lookout for ways to make the experience of raising a down payment easier, better, and more rewarding... so we are looking to add custom video uploads in the very near future. HOW CAN I MANAGE MY ACCOUNT? CHANGE SETTINGS LIKE THE GOAL OR TARGET DATE? Login to your registry account. The campaign process is managed easily from the step-by-step dashboard. Click or tap on Manage Account for additional settings like Campaign Goal and Target Date. IS MY PERSONAL AND FINANCIAL INFORMATION INFORMATION SECURE? downpayment.gift does NOT store any personal sensitive information about your finances, banking history, social security number, or any other data that's particularly useful for identity fraud. We only store your basic contact information and user login in our database, and we protect that data using industry best practices for web application security. Our payment processor, Stripe, securely handles the transaction data for you and your donors. For wedding related: we do not sell your information to marketers to sell you other wedding related products and services or honeymoon travel packages. We sell a software subscription to lender partners for access to the platform. Partners pay to sponsor registries in the hopes of helping with the mortgage. We also charge for premium services to help partners market down payment registry campaigns to grow their business.
