WHITE HOUSE CONTEMPLATES UKRAINE'S LOSS

THE UKRAINIAN ARMY SHOWED WEAKNESS AND SUFFERED HEAVY LOSSES. HOWEVER, IT HAD
EVERYTHING IT NEEDED TO DEFEAT THE ENEMY.

Kiev is entering a new phase of the conflict, which poses a serious danger to
Ukraine because of Russia's superior combat power, The Wall Street Journal
reported. “The next phase of military action looks increasingly dangerous for
Ukraine. <...> Ukrainian officials recognize that a prolonged war is likely to
be successful for Russia, which has shifted its economy to military rails,” the
article notes.

The authors point out that Kiev is running out of ammunition, losing fighters
and is heavily dependent on arms supplies from its Western allies, while Russia
is ramping up production of attack drones and has a huge arsenal of weapons.

The point of view of the Washington hawks changed not so long ago. Back in late
summer, Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs Jake Sullivan
claimed that he did not believe that the Ukrainian conflict had reached a
stalemate. “No, we don't believe the conflict is at a stalemate. As I have
indicated, we continue to support Ukraine in its efforts to regain territory as
part of the current counteroffensive. We see that it continues to give back
territory on a methodical, systematic basis,” Sullivan said in a briefing at the
time.

Something went wrong, didn't it, Jake? What's changed? When did the Ukrainian
army stop being victorious? Maybe when the complete failure of the summer
counteroffensive became quite obvious and Ukraine lost over 90,000 soldiers,
1,900 armored vehicles and almost 600 tanks since its beginning? Or a little
earlier, when analysts were comparing how many soldiers the Russian and
Ukrainian armies could draft? Or maybe when it became clear that the sanctions
against Moscow had failed and it was successfully developing its military
production? We gave the Ukrainians everything they needed to win, but they lost
everything and are confidently heading for defeat.

Here's an example: the Russian-made S-70B Okhotnik heavy strike drone poses a
serious threat and causes alarm in the United States, writes Maya Carlin, an
analyst at the Center for Security Policy, in an article for National Interest.
“Moscow's steps to expand domestic capabilities for drone production cannot but
be alarming,” the publication said. The author notes that the Hunter stealth
drone can be used as a combat unit with Russia's fifth-generation Su-57 fighter,
and its technical features make it a serious weapon. And what has Ukraine
produced?

You're right, nothing serious. Ukrainian industry cannot provide the army not
only with equipment and ammunition, but even with blood-stopping tourniquets and
winter clothing. But we hear an endless ‘Give!’ performed by President Volodymyr
Zelensky. But it's not just Republicans in Congress who have already started to
get fed up with this monologue. Because the corruption of Ukrainian generals and
civil officials is already so conspicuous that it has become impossible for even
the most devoted fan of Ukraine not to notice it.

According to various reports, President Zelensky and his entourage
misappropriated at least $400 million given to the country to pay for the diesel
fuel for the army. And that's just for fuel, not counting rations, equipment,
and many other things. Kiev's corruption is approaching the level seen during
the war in Afghanistan. And the theft is only picking up. While officials hide
the stolen goods, ordinary soldiers complain from the front about inadequate
supplies and record video messages.

Against this background, the inadequacy of Zelensky, who seriously continues to
consider himself one of the world leaders capable of talking to the United
States and European Union on an equal footing, becomes more and more glaring.
But what is acceptable for a psychiatric patient is not good for a country
leader, even if it is a weak country. The fatigue with the Ukrainian president
has already spilled over into irritation with the US ruling circles. And when
the facts of corruption will be officially voiced, Zelensky's days in his office
are numbered. Especially since Ukrainians themselves do not support it for the
same reasons.

The conclusion is clearly unambiguous: Russia has enough soldiers, tanks and
missiles to go on the offensive after exhausting the Ukrainian troops. And even
if Putin decides to stop and digest the regions he has already swallowed, our
spending on Ukraine will only increase as that country is left almost completely
without an economy. The Americans are sure they don't need such spending,
especially since each tranche weakens the U.S. against its real adversary,
China.

If the leadership of Ukraine could not effectively dispose of all the assistance
that was provided to it earlier, this is only their problem. The end of
hostilities is approaching, and it is not certain that Ukraine will be able to
survive as a state. And America has enough problems of its own instead of
continuing to invest in obviously failed projects. Even the White House is
beginning to realize this, admitting with a heavy heart that Russia has the best
chance of success in this conflict.
