ALEC DREW

OWNER - THE BUSINESS EXPERT

"THE UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCE OF TECHNOLOGY"

Speaker Bio Synopsis

Alec Drew, KBE shares his passion and knowledge around productivity and
communications with business leaders both nationally and internationally. A
major part of his 40 years in business was spent as Managing Partner of a highly
successful branding agency where he worked with a wide range of CEO’s across all
sectors. His insightful questioning and straight talking opened up new
conversations, giving them fresh insights into their own organisations and
uncovering valuable revenue streams that were previously overlooked. One
strategy helped his clients achieve €3.23 billion in additional sales over a 5
year period. He regularly demonstrates the positive effect on shareholder value
when all levels of an organisation speak the same language. As an international
speaker he shows very quickly how a simple shift in mindset can have such a
positive impact on the bottom line. He hates waffle, verbose explanations and
jargon and his talks get straight to the point in a no nonsense but entertaining
way. ’Hiding in Plain Sight - The Unintended Consequence of Technology on
Profitability’ is a fresh and honest look at the 4th Industrial Revolution and
the combined effects of technology, science and communications on productivity,
wellbeing and shareholder value. He hosts a weekly radio show where business
leaders from all sectors share seminal moments in their lives. Asking insightful
questions he encourages guests to retrace their steps from the start of their
career to where they are now and talk about key influencers that shaped their
success. It gives listeners their weekly fix of encouragement to believe in
themselves and demonstrates the abundance of resources that are available to
help you complete your journey to destination SUCCESS. He is Past President of
the Professional Speaking Association, Ireland, a member of the PSA and the
Global Speaking Federation. 'The concept of business is simple until you let a
human being near it' - Alec Drew

We are pioneers living through very exciting times as we face the challenges of
the new frontier which is recognised as the 4th Industrial Revolution. When most
people think of Industrial Revolution they think of steam, mechanisation and
stuff you read in history books when in fact they are periods of human evolution
just like the one we are experiencing at the moment. Like all pioneers before us
we will be traveling through unchartered territory and we must be careful not to
let our eagerness to embrace all things new, to distract us from the dangers
that lurk out there. This journey is different from any that mankind has taken
in the past because for the first time ever, communications, science and
technology have come together in ways we never expected, in ways we are
struggling to understand and in ways we have yet to experience. it will require
us to make some brave strategic decisions as we use the tools and knowledge of
the past, assimilate the constant stream of information being placed before us
and it will require an agile mindset to negotiate the continually evolving
internal and external threats. The great news is that the information we need is
all around us, we see examples of it every day in fact it is Hiding in Plain
Sight. The reason that so many fail to see what is Hiding in Plain Sight in
their business and why so few people react to it is probably information
overload, or perhaps a rapid increase in daily distractions or perhaps a
perception that these issues have a low impact on their organisation. So today I
would like to highlight 3 areas that have an impact on all organisations. They
are reputation vulnerability with the rise of the influencer, how to increase
productivity and finally the need to reframe our strategy around cybercrime.

PETER TURLEY

MANAGING DIRECTOR & CO-FOUNDER - SELLSQUARED

"WHY VISIBILITY + CREDIBILITY = PROFITABILITY"

Speaker Bio Synopsis

For almost all his career Peter has been ripping up rulebooks and rewriting
processes to create greater impact and superior results, being first and
foremost a problem solver - seeing opportunity where others see challenge.

No stranger to adversity, Peter Turley has outshone competitors, weathered
recessions, built profitable businesses, raised strong and fiercely loyal teams,
and has earned a reputation as “a simply remarkable thinker with a rare ability
to inspire".

Peter now works as a speaker and trainer, upskilling his clients in the areas of
sales, customer success and market innovation. Testament to this, during the
Covid-19 lockdowns, he co-authored and became MD of Sell Squared, the world's
first MBA equivalent in Sales Leadership.

Described as “a simply remarkable thinker with a rare ability to inspire,” Peter
will show you how to evaluate and rethink your ideas of success, in the context
of the modern business environment. He knows that what truly drives success and
increases your profits is not about mastering the marketing 'buzz-words’ of the
week, but how well you genuinely and authentically connect with your audience,
making it easy for them to buy into your ideas and products. In his
game-changing talks, Peter constantly surprises and captivates his audience by
showing them how to catch the ‘purple goldfish’ - that elusive idea of something
out of the ordinary that gets you noticed, remembered, and loved as a business
(think Apple). Peter will share the three most important lessons for success
that he has learned in a 35 year career that has included numerous national
business awards, bringing his clients to new levels of success and what it’s
like to be invited to keynote at both national and global business conferences…
Imagine what getting noticed, remembered, and loved as a business could do for
you...

for Jungle Disk, now a part of CyberFortress, a company created by a

Elon Musk and Steven Hawking have made waves talking about artificial
intelligence (AI) and the risk it poses to human civilization. With cyberattacks
already at an all-time high - and an expanded threat surface raising
vulnerabilities - hackers are now turning up the heat. They’re using AI and
machine learning (ML) to support their work, too, and the risk for business has
never been greater. In “Security Implications from the Rise of the Machines,”
CyberFortress CEO Bret Piatt draws on decades of R&D and cyber leadership to
show how AI and ML is giving bad actors an early advantage when carrying out
attacks. He’ll discuss how hackers use the technology to expedite time-consuming
processes and maximize damage before being discovered. He’ll examine cyber
changes in key areas from hackbots to social media phishing. Most importantly,
Piatt will illustrate how companies can effectively defend against threats with
AI/ML powered tools of their own, training, re-platforming security ops, rapid
patching and more.

sales, winning Sales Achievement Awards at DELL and Intuity. He also has
extensive experience selling Media Advertising and Products to the Retail &
Manufacturing sectors. Gerard is acutely aware of the responsibility and need
for sales teams to perform on a very consistent basis. As a sales enthusiast, he
is always to be found close to where the sales action is. He now shares this
depth of experience, knowledge and love for sales with sales leaders and teams.

In a Downturn, Provoke Your Customers! With Covid, Brexit and Putin playing
havoc with the world economy, this is a tough time to be selling to business
customers. Sometimes, the budget simply is not there. With less money to go
around, proposals are subjected to higher levels of review in buying
organisations. Rather than resign themselves to hearing the standard “Sorry, we
have no budget for that,” some companies (even some very young start-ups) have
found a way to reach their customers and motivate them to allocate the necessary
funds. Using what we call provocation-based selling, they persuade customers
that the solutions they bring to the table are not just nice but essential.
Provocation-based selling goes beyond the conventional consultative or
solution-selling approach, whereby the vendor’s sales team seeks out current
concerns in a question-and-answer dialogue with customer managers. And it
differs dramatically from the most common approach still in use—product-based
selling, which pushes features, functionality, and benefits, usually in a
generic manner. Provocation-based selling helps customers see their competitive
challenges in a new light that makes addressing specific painful problems
unmistakably urgent.

business development, sales strategy, training, and sales development
initiatives for public and private sectors. He brings both expertise with
multiple industry sectors and organisations in various stages from start-up to
Fortune 500.

Working with an outsourced sales and business development organisation, we
partnered with multiple types of industries including manufacturing, retail,
medical and financial to name a few. This enabled me to gain insights and
experience in a wide variety of industries both selling for and into, and which
provided me with a unique perspective on sales and how to create strategies that
work across industries. This, coupled with strong techniques and powerful
messaging, led to a very successful career in sales

Many sales professionals I encounter find asking for the business to be
difficult as they are afraid of appearing to be aggressive or pushy. Often the
engagement does not lead to a closing situation and the salesperson is unsure of
how to proceed. I explain how to bring the sales to a natural close and explain
the best way to move the prospect forward and ultimately close more sales.

Speaker Bio Synopsis

Ross is an international expert in meaningful work who passionately believes
that work can be awesome for everyone. With a warm, friendly, and playful style,
Ross has helped people find meaning in their work for over 20 years. He founded
Rise, Australia’s first meaningful work consulting firm, 10 years ago to help
organisations “lead with meaning”. From his academic research and his practical
experience, he has developed simple, easy-to-use diagnostic tools, frameworks,
and programs to help make work more meaningful for everyone. In his latest
research project, he interviewed hundreds of ordinary people around the world
about how Covid has changed our relationship with work (spoiler alert: we want
work to be more meaningful). The interviews and findings from this project were
the topics for his recent “Work after Covid” radio series on Austria’s national
radio FM4. Ross is also the host of the “The meaning of work” podcast.
Originally from Scotland (don’t worry - he’s easy to understand), he has spent
17 years in Sydney, Australia and now calls Vienna, Austria home.

"Hiring good tech talent is HARD. From the old-school ping-pong table, to
street-art adorned, free GF snacks, dog-friendly, shoe-optional,
turning-up-in-person optional office environments, tech companies are offering
more and more perks in the arms race for talent. There is a better way to
attract and retain the best teams. I interviewed over 100 people around the
world to discover how Covid has changed what we REALLY want from our work. We
want our work to be meaningful, not more ping-pong tables. In this talk, I’ll
share with you the insights and stories from my global research project, the
latest science on meaningful work, as well as a simple framework and practical
leadership tips for making your workplace somewhere that people want to join and
stay. "

THIBAULT GUILLAUMONT

FOUNDER - HOLUSION

"INNOVATION AND HOLOGRAMS"

Speaker Bio

Thanks to the world of augmented reality, Thibault Guillaumont, 2013 graduate of
#ITEEM and co-founder of the start-up Holusion, has been providing professional
and innovative 3D display solutions since 2014. By creating interactive
holograms for rent or sale, Holusion offers innovative digital experiences and
personalized support in the creation of tailor-made solutions. These are
accessible to all professionals mainly in three markets: the world of science
and culture, the world of construction, but also the world of product marketing.
Finally, Holusion has created a holographic museum of digitized objects from the
archaeological sites of Mesopotamia in order to enhance and preserve one of the
cradles of civilization among the most threatened in the world. It was during
his studies at ITEEM that Thibault teamed up with two friends, including
Benjamin Cliquennois, a school classmate, to digitize this new solution and
revolutionize the use of digital technology. Holusion was therefore born during
their 5th year end-of-study internship. But it was really during a Startup
Weekend - entrepreneurial event, in 2012, that they were able to manufacture
their first prototype, test their product and thus meet incubators in the
region. Since that day, their offices have been deployed at the heart of the
Plaine Images ecosystem (Lille metropolis), where 5 employees currently work.

JOE MCGIVERN

CEO - SUPPORTIT

"MODERN WORKPLACE - MODERN THREATS - A NEW APPROACH FOR SMES?"

Speaker Bio Synopsis

Joe McGivern is CEO of supportIT, a Dublin-based IT Services company and part of
Viatel Technology Group. With over 25 years of working in the IT industry Joe
McGivern knows that the path to successful IT is removing complexity and speaks
with a refreshing honesty while avoiding "tech speak" and jargon.

In today's interconnected and hybrid working world, security has never been more
important. But as the number of worker locations and devices has increased so
too has the number of threats. An array of tools now makes up the average CIO's
arsenal. In fact, in the 2020 CISO Effectiveness Survey, Gartner found that 78%
of CISOs have 16 or more tools in their cybersecurity vendor portfolio; 12% have
46 or more. Having too many security vendors results in complex security
operations and increased security headcount. This also increases cost and
training requirements. In "Modern Workplace, Modern Threats", Joe McGivern
outlines a simpler, more consolidated approach to security that every SME can
ascribe to. Joe focuses primarily on the modern SoC (Security Operations Centre)
and how most security environments can be managed through a single pain of
glass. Joe's approach makes this talk accessible to business leaders from
non-technical roles and carries key tips and tricks to better manage your IT
estate in a user-friendly, cost-effective and most importantly highly secure
manner.

Digital Twins evoke many emotions ranging from excitement to frustration. Why?
The term can mean many things, and therefore causes much confusion unless
everyone in the conversation knows exactly what is being described. The term
Digital Twin can apply to products, systems and processes, across many industry
segments. The built environment, healthcare, manufactured products,
manufacturing process, are just some examples. And within each of those industry
segments, Digital Twins can mean any number of specific solutions, targeting
specific use cases. Digital Twins are a great basis for driving digital
transformation of multiple workflows and processes. So what must we do to
alleviate the confusion relating to Digital Twins, to encourage adoption and
remove confusion? This talk will provide some of the answers.

The problem for many entrepreneurs is getting the funding in the first place.
Entrepreneurs speak the language of seizing opportunity whereas investors speak
the language of mitigating risk. The entrepreneur shares a big vision, the
investor looks at how they can protect downside. To bridge this gap, the
entrepreneur must create a set of documents that investors relate to and engage
with. This set of documents must translate the entrepreneurs vision into a
language the investor understands.

JULIE O'SULLIVAN

HEAD OF PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT - JIGSAW BETTER BUSINESS

"THE 7 DEADLY SINS – HOW A TOXIC WORK CULTURE CAN PREVENT YOUR BUSINESS FROM
GROWING"

Speaker Bio Synopsis

Julie O’Sullivan is a chartered business psychologist with a passion for
supporting clients and organisations to be at their best. Having trained and
coached leaders and teams across various industries, in Ireland and
internationally, she now works as Head of People Development at Jigsaw Better
Business, an award-winning Lean service provider.

Recent research has found that a toxic work culture is the greatest predictor of
a person leaving a job – 10 times more than compensation. In the current
climate, with a huge percentage of workers choosing to change jobs, it’s
essential for long-term business success to consider how to create a healthy
work environment that allows people to be at their best. In this keynote,
organisational psychologist Julie O’Sullivan will highlight some of the common
signs that indicate a work culture that’s not at its healthiest, as well as what
can be done, both from the perspective of the employee, and the employer.

BARBARA SKERRITT

DIRECTOR, INNOVATION DELIVERY - ICON CLINICAL RESEARCH

"WOMEN IN TECHNOLOGY"

Speaker Bio Synopsis

Barbara Skerritt MBA, Director, Innovation Delivery, ICON, has over 30 years
experience spanning across clinical research, data management, data science and
analytics and patient reported outcomes research. Barbara led the ICHOM
benchmarking pilot program and works on initiatives to make healthcare more
equitable for all of society by measuring outcomes that matter to the patient.
Barbara currently leads a number of innovative projects, which are game changing
for the clinical research industry, delivering to an exceptional standard.
Barbara has been a DIBs advocate for many years, and founded WIT@ICON with the
full endorsement of the CIO and HR. Barbara sits on the Advisory Board of Global
Digital Health Network, advising on content development and delivery of the GRIT
International Accelerator program for women in life sciences. She also sits on
the Technical University Dublin’s Advisory Board for the MBA Alumni advising on
course content and Alumni engagement. Barbara brought Google’s IamRemarkable
initiative to ICON, which is fully adopted, which strives to empower
underrepresented groups to speak openly about their accomplishments. She also
has published in multiple academic & industry journals. Barbara has been an
active leader throughout her career, and advocate of mentoring future women
leaders of the pharmaceutical industry.

The challenge for diversity in Technology is evident. This discussion will focus
specifically on how I used my influence to found the Women in IT@ICON (WIT@ICON)
when I recognized through my other DIBs work, how difficult it was for women to
advance in IT. If women do not have a seat at the table, their voices were not
part of the narrative which meant that ICON are not getting the value that
diversity brings such as increased creativity, better decision making and
problem solving. The goal was to bring visibility to this gender imbalance and
thus lead the charge to improve it. The road is long, however, we have already
developed a number of worksteams which are already delivering which I will
discuss in this talk.
