WELCOME TO LITTLE SPARK CHILD CARE

Welcome to Little Spark Child Care! We are delighted to partner with parents and
communities for children's care, play, learning, and development. Our mission is
to provide a warm, loving, safe, responsive, respectful, inclusive, and
equitable environment filled with fun and learning.

We recognize that early childhood education profoundly impacts children's future
success in school and life. Our program builds a second family for children and
provides holistic play-based structural and unstructured activities to support
children's physical, social, cognitive, emotional and language development.

We believe children are unique and mighty learners, and we nurture children's
dispositions to learn. We plan and implement age-appropriate structured and
open-ended play activities based on the children's interests, needs and
abilities. We are devoted to building an open, supportive, respectful and
reciprocal relationship with parents to make parents work peacefully, generate
ideas, solve problems, and learn more deeply about children.

Little Spark Child Care is proud to offer competitive tuition rates and
high-quality childcare services to meet the needs of our families and
communities. Our commitment to excellence ensures that children receive the best
possible care and educational experiences. For more detailed information or to
address any inquiries, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to
assist you and happy to answer any questions you may have.

CURRICULUM

At our daycare, we embrace an emergent curriculum approach that prioritizes the
interests, needs, and experiences of the children in our care. we are committed
to providing high-quality early childhood education and care that aligns with
Alberta's Early Learning and Care Framework - FLIGHT. This framework guides our
curriculum and practices, emphasizing the importance of fostering children's
development across the domains of physical, social, emotional, and cognitive
growth. We believe in the power of emergent curriculum, which allows us to
tailor our teaching approach to the unique interests, needs, and experiences of
the children in our care.

Infant program (for children 12 -18 months)

Creating a nurturing environment for infants in our daycare involves ensuring a
foundation of love, safety, and security while also offering opportunities for
exploration and development. Alongside the essential elements of sleeping and
eating, infants can engage in a variety of activities that cater to their
developmental needs. These activities may include sensory play to stimulate
their senses, tummy time to strengthen muscles, gentle movement exercises to
enhance coordination, music and singing for auditory stimulation, social
interaction to foster bonds with caregivers and peers, outdoor time for fresh
air and exploration, creative exploration through art, storytelling to encourage
language development and imagination, and ample cuddling and comforting to
promote emotional security. By integrating these activities into the daycare
routine, our early educators can provide a comprehensive approach to infant care
that supports their overall well-being and development.

Toddler Program (for children 1.5 - 3 years)

In our daycare settings, supporting toddler development involves providing a
nurturing environment that encourages exploration, social interaction, and skill
development. Toddlers thrive on routine, so establishing consistent schedules
for meals, naps, and activities is essential. Structured play activities that
promote fine and gross motor skills, such as building blocks, puzzles, and
outdoor play equipment, should be incorporated into the daily routine. Early
educators should also encourage language development through storytelling,
singing, and conversations, while fostering independence by allowing toddlers to
make choices within safe boundaries. Socialization is crucial, so opportunities
for peer interaction and cooperative play should be facilitated. Additionally,
our early educators should be attentive to emotional needs, offering comfort and
support during times of distress and celebrating achievements to boost
self-esteem. Regular communication with parents about their child's development
and experiences ensures a collaborative approach to care that supports each
toddler's unique growth journey.

Pre-school age Program (for children 3+ years)

In our daycare, preschool-aged children benefit from a balanced environment that
nurtures their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Through a
balance of structured activities and free play, preschoolers are encouraged to
explore, learn, and grow at their own pace. Structured activities, such as
circle time, story sessions, and group games, support language development,
social skills, and cooperation. Art projects and sensory play encourage
creativity and fine motor skills, while outdoor play promotes gross motor
development and exploration of the natural world. Early educators foster
independence by offering opportunities for self-directed activities and
decision-making within a structured framework. Pre-academic skills are
introduced through age-appropriate activities that stimulate curiosity and
problem-solving abilities. Moreover, a supportive and responsive caregiving
approach helps children build trusting relationships and develop a positive
sense of self. Regular communication with parents allows for collaboration in
addressing each child's individual needs and progress. By providing a
stimulating and nurturing environment, our daycare facilitates preschoolers'
holistic development and prepares them for future learning experiences.
