How do I apply for SDA housing on the Sunshine Coast?
To be eligible for NDIS SDA on the Sunshine Coast, you must have extreme
functional impairment or/and very high support needs.
If you would like to live in NDIS Specialist Disability Accommodation on the
Sunshine Coast, talk to your support coordinator. They can help you show the
NDIS that you are eligible for this type of support. This will involve getting a
Housing Assessment Report done with an occupational therapist, which is a
comprehensive assessment that works out whether you’re eligible, and what type
of disability accommodation on the Sunshine Coast would suit your needs.

What is the difference between SDA and SIL?
As you start exploring your options for NDIS accommodation on the Sunshine
Coast, you may have heard terms like Supported Independent Living (SIL) and
Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) and wonder what they mean. While both
are related to disability accommodation, they are different types of services.
Specialist Disability Accommodation is housing for people with extreme
functional impairment or very high support. It can include shared supported
accommodation, community residential units, or self-contained homes that are
fitted with specialist housing solutions.
Supported Independent Living refers to the on-site support services you receive
to help you live independently. If you require both SDA and SIL because of your
disability, the NDIS will fund them separately. This is to give you more choice
and control, as you can choose to live in an accommodation that you like, and
access another SIL provider that suits your needs.

If anyone is considering choosing a homecare package then honestly this is the
one.I recently changed providers for my dad who suffers from parkinsons disease
as we were not happy with them. How I came across this homecaring service was
just a quincedence as I was searching for a nurse who does home visits. I am so
glad that happened otherwise I wouldn't be aware of this home care provider.
There's so many positive things I can say about this company.Neelam who is the
director is such an amazing person, she and her team are dedicated in helping
and providing the services needed for the elderly.She has such a beautiful heart
and she genuinely cares about her clients.If anyone is not happy with their own
provider then honestly change it, I highly recommend this company because we
definitely have no regrets. We are so happy and its the best decision we've ever

I chose Dementia Caring for mum's HCP provider with the ability to choose our

Dementia Caring exceeded me and my family’s expectations. We moved from Ozcare a
few months ago and from our experience, I can safely say that the quality of
care and attention to detail is much higher here. My Dad has frontal temporal
dementia and needs a high level of care, so we were a bit apprehensive when it
came to leaving him alone at home with a carer. However, our care manager,
Jonathan Ng, has been excellent. He ensures that all of Dad’s needs are met and
always goes the extra mile. Dad’s favourite nurse, Kelly, comes to look after
him several times a week and it has taken a lot of weight off of my family’s
shoulders. Overall, my family and I are very satisfied with Dementia Caring and
are grateful for the respite they have been able to provide us.

Moved from ANHF on the prospect that Home Caring would be more flexible and
quicker. Initially, good but Dementia Caring has grown and there is more
management. They are now slower in decision making and less flexible. Probably

Signed up with HomeCaring/Dementia Caring last year with with the Smithfield
branch on behalf of a relative. Whilst their fees were not the cheapest, they
were a small home care provider that promised a lot and flexible to deal
with.Initially, they were reasonable.Home Caring has grown and they now have a
larger management team. For the client, this has equated to the client, more
roadblocks, more compliance and less flexibility... the decision to switch is
now questionable :(Their care worker force is also not that big and quality
varies depending on who you get.

service and the management and team leader in Carlingford/Merrylands were
