What our journeyers have to say:

 * “I’VE BEEN IN SESSIONS WEEKLY SINCE JUNE OF 2022. HJC HAS VASTLY IMPROVED MY
MENTAL HEALTH, AND I ALWAYS FEEL LIKE I BELONG THERE. MY JOURNEY MATES
(SESSION GROUP) ARE SOME OF THE MOST SUPPORTIVE PEOPLE I’VE EVER MET ONLINE,
AND HJC’S JOURNEY GUIDES (FACILITATORS) ARE ALWAYS SO KIND AND COMPASSIONATE
TOWARD ME AND EVERYONE ELSE! EVEN IF YOU CAN’T AFFORD THE SESSION PART, THE
DISCORD COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE IS HANDS DOWN THE MOST WELCOMING AND SAFE SPACE
   I HAVE EVER BEEN IN.”

   Emily

 * “I'VE BEEN HERE FOR A WHILE AND I'VE REALLY ENJOYED EVERYTHING YOU’RE DOING
HERE. IT'S HELPED MORE THAN ANY 1X1 THERAPY I'VE TRIED SO FAR HONESTLY. I'VE
JUST BEEN TRYING TO GET MY DEPRESSION UNDER CONTROL. I STRUGGLE A LOT, BUT I
FIND MYSELF LOOKING FORWARD TO THESE SESSIONS EVERY WEEK.”

   John

 * “HJC HAS HONESTLY BEEN LIFE CHANGING FOR ME. I’D NEVER FOUND A THERAPIST I’VE
CONNECTED WITH SO WELL BEFORE AND I’VE NEVER HAD THE EXPERIENCE OF A
THERAPEUTIC COMMUNITY LIKE THIS ONE BEFORE. I’VE FELT SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER
SINCE STARTING SESSIONS WITH THEM AND CAN ACTUALLY FEEL SOME OF MY LESS THAN
BENEFICIAL HABITS FINALLY LOOSENING THEIR GRIP. HONESTLY COULDN’T RECOMMEND
THE FANTASTIC HUMANS WHO RUN HJC MORE!”

   Allie

 * "I'VE BEEN A PART OF HJC FOR A COUPLE MONTHS AND JUST RECENTLY SUBSCRIBED TO
THEIR JOURNEY SESSIONS. IT'S HELPED A LOT TO BE ABLE TO TELL THE GROUP WHAT
I'M FEELING AND GET THOSE FEELINGS VALIDATED AND EVEN SOME INSIGHT TO WHY MY
MENTAL ILLNESS AFFECTS MY MOOD SO. THERE'S ALSO OTHERS THAT THINK LIKE ME
THERE AND THE COMMUNITY IS JUST SO WHOLESOME AND IT'S SUCH A FAMILY PLACE. IF
YOU'VE EVER FELT LIKE YOU DON'T BELONG, TRY HERE. THEY ARE VERY OPEN AND SO
LOVING. I'M INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL TO BE A PART OF IT."

   Stephanie

 * “I WISH I COULD PUT INTO WORDS HOW VERY GRATEFUL I AM TO HAVE GOTTEN AN AD
FOR SUCH A LOVELY GROUP, BUT I DON’T THINK WORDS CAN EVEN BEGIN TO DESCRIBE
IT. YOU HAVE BEEN SUCH A SHINING LIGHT IN MY LIFE AND I AM INCREDIBLY
THANKFUL FOR ALL THAT YOU GUYS DO.”

   Cody

WEEKLY JOURNEY

GROUP SESSIONS

Small group sessions with an expert facilitator, you and 4 other peers — mental
health while gaming

$30 / week

First Session Free - Cancel anytime

 * What is included:

    * Weekly 90-minute anonymous group mental health support and psychoeducation
      sessions.

    * Exercises and worksheets to explore and reflect on your own growth path,
      based on evidence-based tools

    * Private discord server with other gamers in the same journey, who are
also interested in personal development and growth

    * Unlimited “pick up” gaming sessions and community events with other
members — movie nights, mid-week check-ins, art streaming, etc.

All of our sessions are facilitated by Journey Guides who are licensed
therapist with either a Doctorate or Master’s degree in counseling and are
trained in evidence-based tools like CBT, DBT, and ACT. That said, they are
NOT providing therapy as part of this service - they are only facilitating
   subclinical support groups.

 * Facilitator credentials:

All of our Journey Guides (group facilitators) hold a Doctorate or Master’s
degree from an accredited graduate program for counseling and are all
licensed (or license-eligible). That said, they are facilitating group
sessions and providing a supportive, psychoeducational service, NOT licensed
   care through Hero Journey Club.

While our Journey Guides have clinical training, they cannot act in the
capacity of psychotherapists. We work with credentialed experts because we
believe in providing quality, evidence-based support but only they function
   as group facilitators.

Think of 1x1 psychotherapy like working with a personal trainer who helps you
create a personalized workout regimen and focuses with you each week to hit
those goals. Our program is more like a group workout class (CrossFit, yoga,
or SoulCycle) — you’re still working out with a trained professional, but the
   focus is on the group.

They all have had ample training in facilitating mental health support groups
anchored in evidence-based techniques like CBT, DBT, and ACT, supporting
members in a range of mental health topics like depression, generalized
anxiety, stress, social anxiety, addiction, trauma, etc in addition to more
thematic areas like neurodivergence (autism, adhd, etc) and identity (gender,
   sexuality, purpose, childhood experiences).

They go through 4 stages of interviews with clinicians on our team and have
demonstrated competency in applying evidence-based frameworks.

Before assigning you to a group, you will be able to review the credentials
and experience of your Journey Guide to make sure that you are comfortable
   working with them.

 * What is each session like:

The main focus of the sessions is the mental health support but we meet
inside of games because it’s more comfortable for some people to show up
inside of the spaces that they already play to relieve stress and socialize.

We keep the group capped at 5 people so that there’s enough time to have
everyone share and get support. We usually start with a round of intros
(anonymously), a quick check in question, and then we pick a theme to discuss
as a group. The Journey Guide facilitates the session by going around the
room and having each person share if they’d like to. They will introduce
worksheets and tools based on CBT/DBT/ACT techniques and other evidence-based
resources to give members a tangible area to work on. And then we close out
with a specific commitment or reflection on the topic.

While that session is happening, we’re usually gaming together behind the
scenes but most people use the game to keep occupied while they listen in to
the session (it can sometimes be awkward to not do anything while others are
talking). We’ll pick a mission/goal to do at the beginning and just play
while the session happens. Everything in our Minecraft realm has been built
by the community so there are always a ton of cool projects happening that
need help. In upcoming programs, we’re also working on designing game
environments specifically for various mental health themes.

There are two types of "Journey Crews": 1) groups that are super into the
gaming and do missions together etc while session is happening in discord. We
are also building mini-games and mental health exercises in our Minecraft
servers to incorporate more of this and 2) groups that focus primarily on the
session in discord and play their own games, or lightly play together while
   the session is happening.

 * How to get started:

Before your free first session, we will do a 15-20 min onboarding call for
all new members, to determine which group is the best fit. You will be
matched into a “Journey Crew” based on your age/life stage, mental health
needs, schedule, and games you play.

During your onboarding, you will be matched to a group that will meet at the
same day/time each week with a Journey Guide and 4 other gamers, to work
through mental health challenges together while gaming at the same time.

 * Satisfaction guarantee:

    * We want you to get the right support you need, whether that’s with us or
not. You can also switch crews or Journey Guides whenever you want.

    * Cancel or pause your membership at anytime, no risk or strings attached.
If the community isn’t a good fit, you can cancel your subscription on
your own at anytime and you will not be charged for any unused sessions.

 * Program cost:

We work hard to keep the rates really low and almost all of the fees go
toward bringing therapists in to work with us as Journey Guide facilitators.

Most therapists charge $150-300/hr and most mental health support groups cost
$40-70 per hour. Our sessions are only $30 for a weekly 90 min session (which
   is about $20/hr).

We are heavily subsidizing the cost right now and are at the bottom of that
range so that we can make it as affordable as possible for our early
   supporters.

Our discord community is free and open to everyone to join if you just want
to find other kind and supportive people to game with. We have weekly
nonclinical events like check-ins, group gaming, art streaming etc that's
free and open to everyone. The only thing you pay for is time with our
facilitators who have expertise in evidence-based mental health support.

OUR JOURNEY GUIDES

(SESSION FACILITATORS)

All of our Journey Guides (group facilitators) hold a Doctorate or Master’s
degree from an accredited graduate program for counseling and are all licensed
(or license-eligible). That said, they are facilitating group sessions and
providing a supportive, psychoeducational service, NOT licensed care through
Hero Journey Club.

While our Journey Guides have clinical training, they cannot act in the capacity
of psychotherapists. We work with credentialed experts because we believe in
providing quality, evidence-based support but only they function as group
facilitators.

Journey Guide Bios

 * WHAT KIND OF SUPPORT DO JOURNEY GUIDES PROVIDE?

Think of 1x1 psychotherapy like working with a personal trainer who helps you
create a personalized workout regimen and focuses with you each week to hit
those goals. Our program is more like a group workout class (CrossFit, yoga,
or SoulCycle) — you’re still working out with a trained professional and
improving your health, but you’re doing that as part of a group.

Before assigning you to a group, you will be able to review the credentials
and experience of your Journey Guide to make sure that you are comfortable
   working with them.

 * ARE THEY QUALIFIED/CERTIFIED?

Yes. All of our Journey Guides are licensed therapists (PsyDs, LMHCs, LPCCs,
LMFTs, or LCSWs) and hold either a Doctorate or Master’s degree from an
Accredited graduate school program in counseling/clinical psychology, but
they DO NOT provide therapy through our program. They facilitate subclinical
   mental health support groups.

Think of it like having personal trainer lead a CrossFit workout or a
   nutritionist teaching a cooking class.

 * DO YOU PROVIDE THERAPY?

No. We are not a substitute for psychotherapy or medical advice —
unfortunately group sessions are not deep enough to provide any diagnoses or
   treatments.

While our Journey Guides are licensed therapists, they do not provide
psychotherapy here. They will rely on their supportive and well-being skills
in helping you benefit from group sessions, but they will not evaluate or
diagnose conditions, construct individual treatment plans, prescribe
medication, or assess and treat crises. We can route you to crisis resources
should you need help in that area but we are not equipped to address crisis
   situations.

We are a subclinical resource for people looking to find a community working
on mental health, led by experts in emotional and mental wellbeing. We highly
suggest you also work with a 1x1 therapist or psychiatrist if you need deeper
support. Half of our members see their own psychiatrist or therapist in
   addition to joining our groups.

We are a good fit for people who want an additional tool in their mental
health toolbox. We apply evidence-based support based on CBT/DBT/ACT to help
empower you on your journey of healing.

 * HOW DOES THIS WORK?

The main focus of the sessions is the mental health support itself (rather
than the gaming). We keep the group capped at 5 people so that there’s enough
time to have everyone share and get support. We usually start with a round of
intros (anonymously), a quick check in question, and then we pick a theme to
   discuss as a group.

The Journey Guide facilitates the session by going around the room and having
each person share if they’d like to. They will introduce worksheets based on
CBT/DBT techniques and other evidence-based tools to give members a tangible
area to work on. And then we close out with a specific commitment or
   reflection on the topic.

While that session is happening, we’re usually gaming together behind the
scenes but most people use the game to keep occupied while they listen in to
the session (it can sometimes be awkward to not do anything while others are
talking). We’ll pick a mission/goal to do at the beginning and just play
while the session happens. Everything in our Minecraft realm has been built
by the community so there are always a ton of cool projects happening that
need help. In upcoming programs, we’re also working on designing game
environments for specific mental health needs.

 * HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The group sessions are $30/week, which includes:

    * a weekly 90 min mental health session with a Journey Guide while gaming

    * worksheets/tools for the sessions

    * access to private discord channels with the staff and private Minecraft
      realms

    * unlimited “Peer Quests” which are community events run by moderators in
our discord server, like gaming sessions, weekly check-ins, art sessions,
study groups, movie nights, dungeons and dragons games, etc.

You can cancel at anytime, no strings attached.

We work hard to keep the rates really low and almost all of the fees go
toward bringing therapists in to work with us as Journey Guide facilitators.
Most therapists charge $150-300/hr and most mental health support groups cost
   $40-70 per hour.

We are heavily subsidizing the cost right now and are at the bottom of that
range so that we can make it as affordable as possible for our early
supporters. Our sessions are only $30 for a weekly 90 min session, which is
   about $20/hr.

 * WHAT AGES IS THIS FOR?

We have members ranging from 13 to 55 years old but most of our members are
in their early 20s and 30s.

The youngest we can support currently is 13 years old but we will be opening
programs for adolescents in the near future!

During the onboarding call, we’ll match you to a group that’s in the same
life stage, working on similar challenges, plays similar games, and can meet
at the same time each week. If the group is not a good fit for any reason,
we’re happy to re-match you to another group.

 * ARE YOU HIRING?

Yes! We are hiring for licensed, associate-licensed, or license-eligible
therapists with a Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited counseling,
clinical psychology, clinical social work, or marriage and family therapy
   graduate program.

Frequently Asked Questions

LOVE ❤️ FROM OUR COMMUNITY

“I was on the verge of a panic attack when I first joined because I was so
nervous, but everyone was so kind, welcoming, and warm. It’s rare to find a
community like this where everyone is so open and real with what they’re going
through, but in a supportive and uplifting way.”

“The Hero Journey Club provided me with amazing connections when I had no
friends that were good people; I was alone and HJC brought me just what I
needed! Not just friends, but genuine people. From those connections we built an
even bigger and better community--I wish my past self could see this now.”

“That’s a really deep dive you’ve given me into my situation and I really
appreciate it, especially since some of the people I know don’t even give me a
single word when I talk about my issues. I’ll be sure to speak about this with
my therapist, and again, thank you so so so much. I appreciate you all so much.”

“The most helpful thing was honestly just the realization that we're all pretty
similar. It's comforting, I was worried I'd be the outlier with how extremely
messed up I am, so to have a bit of that worry lifted is nice.”

“Interesting hearing other people be vulnerable/ open. Made me feel better by
putting my problems/ concerns in perspective.”

“HJC is like going to Cheers online, with a carefully crafted and monitored
environment and great supportive gaming community.”

“I feel much more confident with the decisions I want to make and more secure.
This really helped so much- I'm very thankful.”

“I just love getting to be real with people! My real life is so stifling because
I don't have anyone to talk to about 90% of my actual life. It feels like my
Destiny if I'm honest.”

WHO DO YOU THINK WOULD BE A GOOD FIT FOR THE HERO JOURNEY CLUB?

“People in search of a tribe, folks that want to have an interesting convo with
folks, people who want a constructive environment and group to explore gaming
and mental health with.”

“Anyone wishing to spend some time self improving through conversation and play.
Young adults (most ppl are 20-30 y/o) searching for connection with others that
have similar interests and goals.”

“People who are afraid to speak up. Being that we're talking while playing a
medium used for escaping or comfort is a huge benefit to people who normally
would find it hard to speak on subjects like their own mental health.”

“Everyone, honestly. Although it is fun to market towards gamers, my first
session was just doing art and being in the voice channel. That was so much
fun!”

“It's essentially just group therapy in a new sense - bonding through video
games. I think lots of mentally distressed people can benefit from this.”

“Hmm...people looking for community and support, people who want to improve how
they interact with others, people who need someone to listen...etc”

THE RESULT.

MOST MEMBERS FEEL MORE CONNECTED AFTER ONLY ONE JOURNEY

Better sense of clarity for life situations and struggles

Feeling like you’re not alone and having a community of people to support you
through difficult life circumstances

Tools for mental health that you can directly apply to your life.
