About Plan

Taichung Hybrid
Taichung是一座宜居的城市，也是一座充滿冒險與創意的城市。不只在山、海、屯、城間有產業聚落扎實的量能，街坊巷弄更是各種創意生活的實驗室。返鄉新世代的設計及美學思維，融入舊時代工藝產業，揉合出專屬台中人的生活態度，也建構出美學城市的新風貌!
 
Hybrid是台中這座城市的基因，聞名世界的珍珠奶茶，東方粉圓遇見西方奶茶；在眼科老宅裡賣冰淇淋，療癒味蕾以及心靈；廢墟大樓翻新成工業風飯店，頹廢化為有型；九天的民俗陣頭，華麗轉身站上世界舞台；黑手窟裡的手工具，創造黃金縱谷的奇蹟；拉著一卡皮箱的創業者，將創意席捲到全世界。舌尖上創新，眼珠子冒險，醉聆爵士樂聲，踩舞歡快節奏，在台中足以解放你的五感!就是這種既舊又新，既傳統又現代，既常民又國際，信手拈來令人拍案叫絕的創意，這就是臺中的生活風格!
 
本年度的「創意台中」，將呈現台中的城市基因，以「Taichung
Hybrid」為主題，於10月28日至11月6日辦理，邀請臺中優秀生活品牌、多元產業、設計師與藝術家等，規劃5大主題展間及5座戶外裝置，從「城市聲景」、「工藝生活」、「奇幻森林」、「火煉創生」及
「混搭台中」等面向，將城市聲音、流行文化、設計美學、歷史脈絡、傳統產業進行跨界整合，並選定在象徵舊城再生的「綠空鐵道」舉辦，形成悠閒的文創散策綠帶，漫步在台中新舊融合與創新價值中，展現屬於台中人的混搭文化！

Taichung is a pleasant city filled with adventure and creativity. The city has
prosperous industrial clusters in the Mountain, Coastal, Tun, and City zones and
displays creative lifestyles in the streets and alleys. Taichung City now has a
new aesthetic look thanks to the new generation who have returned home: by
infusing local traditional crafts industries with new designs and aesthetics,
they have created a lifestyle that is uniquely Taichung.

“Hybrid” is part of Taichung’s DNA and can be found everywhere in the city:
bubbles from the east meet milk tea from the west to create the world-famous
bubble milk tea, and a former eye clinic is now home to an ice cream shop which
delights the soul as well as the taste buds. An abandoned building is renovated
into an industrial-style hotel, the Chio-Tian Folk Drums & Art Troupe brings the
traditional local performance onto the international stage, Grease Monkey Guild
transforms hardware components into valuable artwork, and entrepreneurs with
just one single suitcase unleash their creativity to the world. Taichung is a
place where you can savor new tastes, see new things, enjoy new Jazzy music, and
dance to joyful rhythms. This is a place where you have to experience with all
senses! Fusing the old with the new, the traditional with the modern, and the
local with the international, Taichung offers unique creativity and a
one-of-its-kind lifestyle!

With “Taichung Hybrid” as its main theme, this year’s Creative Taichung will
take place between Oct. 28 and Nov. 6. Several outstanding lifestyle brands,
industries, designers, and artists are invited to take over the five themed
exhibition booths and five outdoor installations. Sounds from the city, pop
culture, design and aesthetics, history and culture, and traditional industries
are fused into new presentations under five themes (Sounds of the City, Crafts
and Life, Fantasy Forest, Rite of Fire, and Fusion Taichung). The event will be
held at Taiwan Connection 1908, which is also part of the old city that has been
transformed into a lush and inviting cultural and creative space. Take a stroll
through hybrids of the old and the new, the traditional and the innovative, and
experience Taichung’s unique fusion culture!
