Now that it's been officially released for Android, Monument Valley 2 shot to
the top of our best paid puzzle games list, and rightly so. This was no easy
feat, as the games we covered ran the gamut of puzzles and all had stellar
reviews. But there's just something about Monument Valley 2 that made it stand
out from the rest.

Monument Valley 2 combines relaxing gameplay, a touching storyline, and
intricately rendered visuals and audio to deliver an immersive, addicting game
that has to be played to believe. To give you a better idea without giving too
much away, here are some tidbits about this artfully crafted game.

Monument Valley 2 stays faithful to its predecessor in terms of visuals and
overall gameplay, so anyone who's had the pleasure of playing the original will
feel right at home. The game will have you guide its heroines through
imaginatively rendered monuments that continually trick your eyes and brain as
you form seemingly impossible pathways from blocks and causeways that shouldn't
logically connect.

Like the original, Monument Valley 2 lets you figure out its M.C. Escher-style
puzzles at your own leisure, encouraging you to cover all the bases through
trial and error. There's no time limits to speak of, removing all the pressure
for you to complete a level and truly sucking you into its fantastical world.

Another great aspect of Monument Valley 2 is a storyline that's completely
independent from the 2014 iteration. If you're a purist who's new to Monument
Valley, but you feel antsy about needing to complete the first game in order to
comprehend the story as a whole, fret not — you can just purchase the sequel and
hit the ground running.

That said, Monument Valley 2 centers around Ro and her growing daughter as they
embark on a journey, learning lessons about love and letting go along the way.
Other than that, there's not much to say about its straightforward storyline,
aside from mentioning that its poignancy pulls at your heartstrings without
overdoing it. Even still, we don't want to spoil anything for you by delving
deeper into it, so we highly encourage you to experience this little gem
yourself.



The game's graphics are top notch, featuring smooth animations that are
complemented by crisp audio effects. The aural and visual experiences combine to
lend a sense of concrete realism — from sliding heavy blocks into place to
turning screws — and truly breathe life into the game.

The beautifully composed soundtrack is sure to sear itself into your brain while
setting the tone for a truly immersive experience. And, unlike the original, the
game has 14 levels for you to play through to give you more time to bond with
its characters and provide much needed respite from your daily life.

It's rare to find a game that's been crafted with such love, care, and attention
to detail. This release was around three years in the making, but the games
developer is justified in the lapse in time after producing a gem that's
definitely worth purchasing.
