150 YEARS OF PROGRESS
In 1873, Johann Philipp Schifferdecker started producing Portland cement –
then a completely new building material – with just 35-employees in
Heidelberg, Germany. He probably never imagined that 150 years later,
Heidelberg Materials would be one of the world’s largest manufacturers of
building materials. Read here how it happened.

GERMAN VICE CHANCELLOR DR. ROBERT HABECK VISITS FLAGSHIP CCS PROJECT IN
BREVIK, NORWAY
Dr Robert Habeck, Terje Aasland and Jan Christian Vestre highlighted the
importance of CO₂ capture technologies for the industry during their visit to
Heidelberg Materials' CCS project in Brevik. The project is groundbreaking
globally as it is the first large-scale carbon capture plant in the cement
industry. Heidelberg Materials will invest EUR 1.5 billion in CCUS projects
by 2030 to achieve net zero emissions.
* A PLACE TO FEEL GOOD
The new Terminal 3 in the south of Frankfurt Airport is taking shape. The new
departure hall is designed to combine functionality with aesthetics. The
coloured exposed concrete elements in natural tones create a warm,
lounge-like atmosphere. Around 320,000 cubic meters of concrete have already
been used. The cement required for this was supplied by Heidelberg Materials.

The Heidelberg Materials Sustainability Commitments 2030 define the key
topics and core principles of the future sustainability strategy at
Heidelberg Materials. With the Sustainability Commitments we also set
