Can you think of any other reason mass shootings went up…what? 50-fold?…the day Biden took office? Even I can’t figure that out. Can anyone come up with anything? Cause I can’t. A: Media says it’s not happening. Doesn’t report. RussiaRussiaRussia. Don’t just assume they’re up to all good. Usually they’re up to no good. As all governments in all history if you don’t hold them down and beat them constantly. “they became unable to hold it once the Kalashnikov automatic rifle put the peasants in places like Congo, Angola and Vietnam on equal footing with Western armies seeking to keep them down.” Huh. I thought that there was no use in Americans owning guns because the ability of the population to resist was a keyboard fantasy? Seems like history – of Afghanistan, last Monday – says otherwise. If you have any further questions, ask Alexander Hamilton and Capt John Hancock of the HMS Liberty. I’m betting that the internet will turn out to be the same. Clearly it’s waaaaaaay worse than T.V. in terms of control and knowledge, and has caused them to take transparent oppressive measures like these, exposing themselves badly, like never before in history. And that’s before we get a decentralized peer-to-peer internet, which is inevitable. “White House Says “We Support” Ukraine’s Ambitions to Join NATO (ZH)” Watching CNN MSNBC, they have now re-added 30% Trump stories. Who? Do they have 30% Obama or Carter stories? Even so, NBC posts “The U.S. needs to stop pretending it’s going to defend Ukraine from Russia” Really? Fascinating. Apparently everyone on earth knows except the Derp Brain Trust and their wooden dummy in the White House. Same with Taiwan. Hey, did anyone see how we and Britain defended Hong Kong? With their one ship? I’m Taiwan is overwhelmed with confidence since we can’t defend Minnesota. Ocean Pic: 19 more creatures I’m more likely to die from than Covid. And I don’t live in the ocean. Did you work for Bucyrus Erie or Harnischfeger? This is not related to Covid of course, but more to the decline of US manufacturing and the role of coal in our economy. These days, these sprawling rust belt factories stand empty or have been taken over by strip malls. I was a tech writer for a while. Did manuals on coal mining machinery like draglines and got to hear a lot of stories from field engineers. It’s a job most marriages don’t survive. One guy, ex navy at Marion draglines told me he had a navy wife who was used to him being gone six months at a time and was capable of running their house all by herself. Erecting a dragline took a whole year and if it was in Siberia or South Africa, you didn’t get home much. There are still a whole bunch of jobs like that, like military contractor bridge builders, etc. Whole segment of jobs mostly male where people’s social life is in bars and home is a cheap motel and the wife divorced you long ago. The number was very close to the official body-count for Covid. It’s possible that there were some people who were already going to die in 2020 from old age or deteriorated health who were helped over the threshold by Covid, as we know Covid goes after such people. But I think it’s probably better to undercount such people if they were already going to leave this world in 2020. What scares people about the virus is the possibility it could take away years of your life. Counting people as Covid deaths who had three to six months left at best misleads people as to how dangerous the virus is, and the media and the government need to do less of that, not more. (Not holding my breath on that one, though.) May 7, 2021 at 2:50 pm #74683 Dr. D Participant If you could make a profit, you’d be happy to pay an employee anything he asks. As Armstrong says, they say 8%, 10%, 20% interest rates will crush a stock market. Well what if you thought the stock market would rise 50%? 20% is a bargain: ask everyone in Argentina and Zimbabwe. If you employed someone at $90k, and they made you $120k, you’d be fool not to hire them. So why is this no longer true? Could it be because we’ve got 5x higher health benefit cost than ever in history, double, triple taxation on sales, income, profits, property? OSHA telling you if your employees sniff brick dust you have unlimited liability? They can break in and burn down your plant and the police won’t come? With rates at 0%, insurance covers nothing and is sky-high (they have no investment profits). And everyone else is in the same boat, meaning THEY can’t raise wages either so you can’t raise prices now and never will? Because half the nation isn’t working and 25% are on food stamps, while the wealthy can only use one house and car? See, this is the same argument as usual with wages: we need a $15 minimum wage. Really? What did you do with the LAST $15 I gave you? Well Ben Bernanke printed $40 Trillion dollars and now steak is $12 and rent is $2000. Back when wages were $6/hr, that was equivalent to $30/hr today. Everybody not only wanted to, but could AFFORD to work, since a car cost $3k and took the price of spark plugs to fix. Right now, a brake repair (ABS) would cost a month’s wages. Rent was $300 and credit was at 8%, not 36%APR with fees. It’s Benny and da Boyz that stole ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL that money. ALLLLLLLLLLLL your wages, so the only POSSIBLE way to make money is by walking into a Doge casino and putting it all on black. If you lose, you’re only as broke as ever. If 1:1,000,000 you win, it’s STILL more likely than using hard work and savings. https://www.oftwominds.com/blogapr21/crazy-risk4-21.html Gosh Cleetus, how’d NY get so rich and smart and Tulsa so poor and stupid? Before I could even sit down at another table to eat my lunch, one of them started in on me about getting vaccinated. “Did you get vaccinated against polio when you were a kid?”, she asked. I could see that this question was not your typical inquiry, but a clever trick intended to back me into a corner logically, just like on Perry Mason. You see, everyone at that table had already received their Covid shots, so I would’ve been putting them all at risk if I had been invited too. Behold the product of western journalism! Almost 4 million kids have been diagnosed with Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic. Luckily, vaccines for kids are arriving soon.” What a load of alarmist propaganda bullsh*t. Covid death rates for children and teens are still near-zero on the CDC charts, and even if they were to increase by 25%, 50%, 100%…, they would still be near-zero. If this image posts, it shows the Weekly Covid Deaths (per 100,000) for each age grouping. The yellow lines (representing ages 0-17) aren’t even visible because they’ve been down near zero the whole time. This next image, if it posts, shows the same graph with details I pulled up for the peak of the Covid deaths back in December, to try to show how high the numbers went for children and teens. USAmericans are and always have been extremely brainwashed and brainwashable. A lot of people who have traveled to other countries have come back to this country firmly believing that the USA is the most mind-controlled country on the entire planet. And this included the USSR back during the Cold War Era. May 7, 2021 at 4:21 pm #74693 Mister Roboto Participant @Doc R: One way the propaganda has been royally catapulted during this pandemic is confusing the difference between a positive test (usually a PCR test that was probably run for way too many cycles anyway and therefore likely to generate a false positive), which is more accurately termed an “infection”, and a real case. I would call a real case probably being sick enough to have to stay home from school or work and definitely having to go into the hospital on account of being sick with the ‘Rona (that’s what we’re actually calling it here in The Badger State, believe it or not). So I suspect that a lot of these so-called teenage and child “cases” are really just positive PCR tests that might have yielded a false-positive. STand tall and act cool, and they’ll roll over and fold up like a door mat. “Have you got your covid vaccine yet?” “Have you started thinking for yourself yet or still believing everything that the same media who sold the war in Iraq tells you? “You’re endangering us by not being vaccinated.” “You’re endangering me by being vaccinated with a so-called vaccine that isn’t, but is actually a dangerous genetic experiment. May 7, 2021 at 5:46 pm #74698 madamski cafone Participant I bid us ask this question: say one makes a concise cogent case for kovid vakzine refusal. One they uinderstand but don’t believe. Say that 6 months from now you are vindicated, that refusal becomes the accepted norm. Do you think your current workplace/social Nazi harrassers will apologise? DO you think they’ll say ‘you were right, we were wrong’? Hardly, I say. They believe MSNBC et al not just because it’s the water in their goldfidh bowl but because their indoctrination to trust mainstream authority is based on their experiences beginning in early childhood of being cooerced, intimidated, punished, isolated, and exiled if they don’t do what mainstream authority tells them. But authority has a face, even if it’s some ditzoid hologram with a Will Ferrer mustache on their handroid tv. (These are people compliant enough to think that typing on a teensy-weentsy smartphone screen is a good thing, and if only.they.could.make.them.smaller.yet, wouldn’t that be GREAT? WHy? Because a commercial told them so while they were in a hypnotic trance from binge-watching Shitshows ‘R Us.) You can wear that face simply by assuming authority and not backing down. Be the cool kid that sets the clique standards. Don’t fight the psychopaths in charge; they’re way ahead of you on that. (Or do you personally own a tv station or news network?) BE the psychopath, the one with zero enmpathy for their folly and need for social inclusion. You may eat your lunch alone but they won’t fuck with you. Again: one doesn’t win a fight; one ENDS it. Part of what was great about the “Woodstock Era” was that for awhile, it was fairly mainstream understanding that we were shitting our nest. Now we obsess on select boutique disaster concepts like global climate disruption (which is indeed very real) while telling ourselves we’ll fix it by pretending to pay 3rd world countries reparation damages for killing the biosphere, and ignoring the lessons some people fought so hard to make heard back in those days. Seasonal.” I don’t know if you misread the model predictions or think others will. But the modeling results should not be claimed as a “victory” by anyone. Scientific models are hypotheses, not results. The 4 models, 2 with high vaccination and 2 with low vaccination, are generated over the same time span so seasonal effects are controlled for in the modeling exercise. Come August, we can look back at the actual outcomes, in terms of vaccination level and Covid cases, and assess which model most closely described the actual outcome. If a sharp decline occurs during high vaccination, beyond those expected during low vaccination, it will lend support that the additional decrease in cases was due to vaccination and not just a seasonal effect. Let’s not jump the gun on drawing conclusions from models, one way or the other. The models can be useful tools, with due caution, in helping interpret the eventual outcomes of these experiments. May 7, 2021 at 6:58 pm #74706 Mr. House Participant I wouldn’t call it a major urban area but its the second largest in the state. It was still in decay until around 2010 or so since all the steel jobs left in the 80’s. Limped along while the healthcare and higher ed industries matured. Now they’re in overdrive and those are the only people left who live in the city, while every one else lives off their spending. We do also have two major banks. I prefer the blue collar types honestly, i find higher ed and healthcare workers or just people in general in the city to not be very self reflective. They don’t understand that it isn’t themselves that are special per se. Circumstance. If people realized this we’d do alot less damage to each other. When i would go out to a bar or somewhere to eat you’d overhear things. A lot of the younger people had moved from Podunk town and were soooo happy to be in the city and they had just started at this eatery or that bar. Most service industry people socialize together, makes sense. They even had special get togethers with each other on mondays when most had the day off. Age does that Mr Roboto, as you age you lose the FOMO and realize that the grass isn’t always greener and generally people are the same wherever you go. Some of us were just born old souls. May 7, 2021 at 7:02 pm #74707 Dave Note Participant Back in the 60’s I actually studied rocket science and was planning on joining NASA. I was involved in some high level projects for the Air Force which let me get a peek behind the curtain at the NASA publicity kabuki theater. NASA was basically a pure military project with an ever so thin civilian happy face painted on it. I discovered that the real purpose of most ‘research satellites’ was corporate global natural resource asset stripping, conducted from orbit. The precursors to today’s array of ‘ground penetrating radar’ and other such orbital sensors was to identify and pin point natural resources around the globe, from orbit, before the countries these resources were in figured out they even had them. The NASA data was then forwarded through back channels to the appropriate corporate conglomerate who then bought said ‘undiscovered’ resources for pennies on the dollar. If they couldn’t buy them for pennies on the dollar, they had the local oligarchs move or murder the natives. The resource location angle could be peddled as ‘national security’ and the corporate part of the MIC could vacuum up goodies. A win-win. I realized all this just in the summer leading up to the first moon landing 69, a fabulous piece of PR distraction for the public. The resource location and mapping techniques the US has now are magnitudes more sophisticated than the late 60’s but it’s still the same Song & Dance being pimped by NASA like an old street hooker. Today we are contending for cobalt and lithium and as-sundry rare earth elements for techno gadgets, alt-energy and overall techno supremacy. China is the new power on the global stage and their space satellites are also resource mappers so the US has real competition for orbital hegemony. It’s like a game of musical chairs backed up with nuclear weapons. May 7, 2021 at 7:04 pm #74708 Mr. House Participant I’m 37 going on 38 this year. I came out of college in 2007 and had one good year before 2008. I enjoy all of you, but it worries me that i may be the only person that posts here who isn’t in their 50’s or 60’s. NC, WOLFstreet, seems to be the same everywhere. May 7, 2021 at 7:25 pm #74709 Doc Robinson Participant • CDC Uses Different PCR Test Rules For Vaccinated, Non-Vaccinated (AVV) I was verifying that at the CDC site and found this: “CDC is transitioning to reporting only COVID-19 vaccine breakthrough infections that result in hospitalization or death” So the CDC is not going to report the numbers of breakthrough cases which don’t lead to hospitalization or death. This sounds like a way to boost the public’s opinion of the effectiveness of the vaccines (since the vaccines allegedly reduce the severity of most breakthrough infections). It’s a bad idea because not only will it make it impossible for the public to assess the actual effectiveness of the vaccines, it will also be impossible to make public health decisions related to the actual numbers of vaccinated people who are breakthrough cases, potentially transmitting the virus to others. > As previously announced, CDC is transitioning to reporting only COVID-19 > vaccine breakthrough infections that result in hospitalization or death to > help maximize the quality of the data collected on cases of greatest > clinical and public health importance. That change in reporting will begin > on May 14, 2021. In preparation for that transition, the number of reported > breakthrough cases will not be updated on May 7, 2021. https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/covid-19/health-departments/breakthrough-cases.html * Author Posts Viewing 40 posts - 1 through 40 (of 63 total) 1 2 → * You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
