THE CORNERSTONE OF INDEPENDENT, EVIDENCE-BASED ADDICTION MEDICINE

ACAAM has been working tirelessly for more than a decade to formally establish
addiction medicine within the U.S. medical landscape by advocating for the
nation’s first accredited addiction medicine fellowship programs. ACAAM’s
leadership was critical to addiction medicine obtaining American Board of
Medical Specialties recognition and achieving ACGME accreditation for addiction
medicine fellowship programs. Today, ACAAM is the proud academic home for
addiction medicine faculty and trainees.

ACAAM is dedicated to training and supporting the next generation of academic
addiction medicine leaders needed to meet the ubiquitous health challenges from
substance use. Central to this mission is committed action to improve diversity,
equity, and inclusion of the academic addiction medicine workforce.

2024-2025 FELLOWSHIP TRAINING APPLICATION SEASON UNDERWAY

The ERAS 2024 Season is underway with the release of tokens to fellowship
applicants on June 8. Beginning July 5, fellowship applicants may begin
submitting applications. With fellowships available across the country,
addiction medicine offers a wide range of training and career options. Clinical
fellowships are available for physicians who have completed residency training
in any of the 24 primary specialties.

2023-2024 CALENDAR OF EVENTS

Be sure to mark your personal calendars with upcoming ACAAM events and
deadlines, including weekly didactic sessions beginning July 19, member
networking virtual convenings, and professional development offerings. You won't

Kevin Kunz, MD MPH.

ACAAM NATIONAL ADDICTION MEDICINE DIDACTIC CURRICULUM

ACAAM hosts weekly National Addiction Medicine Didactic Curriculum
presentations. The live, two-hour sessions are mapped to the American Board of
Preventive Medicine (ABPM) addiction medicine exam blueprint as well as the
ACGME medical competencies. Although designed by and for the addiction medicine
subspecialty, the content will improve the practice of any physician or fellow
treating or assessing patients with substance use disorder.
