The Writers Guild of America has been on strike since May 2 after they were
unable to reach “an agreement with the studios and streamers.” The list of
requests from the writers includes regulations regarding AI tools and their
usage.

This strike has raised many questions about what this means for popular TV shows
and anticipated movies. According to The New York Times, the impact on our
entertainment depends on the length of the strike. So we decided to see what
level of skill AI tools possess.

ChatGPT is a language-learning tool that is outpacing us all, but is it truly a
master of language? At Preply we understand the amount of work and time
dedicated to truly mastering a language, and we’re not sure if an AI tool has
what it takes to replace humans.

To put these new AI tools to the test, we have utilized ChatGPT to create
endings for TV shows currently on air and to rewrite conclusions for shows that
have already ended. Read on to see if you would accept AI taking over the
writing for your favorite shows.

CONCLUSION

So what do you think? Does AI have what it takes to write your favorite shows
and movies? While we think it provided some great storylines, we aren’t sure
we’re ready for a future without writers keeping us on our toes. Some shows
still need that human touch.

As we mentioned before, mastering a language takes time and at Preply we

METHODOLOGY

For this campaign, we first built a list of 15 tv shows using IMDB’s top 100
most-watched shows of all time list, along with our personal favorites. The list
included some shows that had come to an end and others that are still on air. We
then entered narrative summaries for each of the following TV shows into ChatGPT
and asked the AI tool to write a dramatic ending or rewrite the ending for shows
that had already come to an end. Each ending went through multiple revisions to
ensure storylines were followed and the new endings made sense based on what had
happened in previous seasons. Shows analyzed within this study include:
