This month’s Working Forward Forum will explore the strategies that work best in
leading the public service, and how effective leaders build on the expertise of
the government's career employees. These are critically important issues,
especially as we head into an election year and as we have a wide-ranging debate
about the accountability of the government's workforce. We will be hearing from
four former appointees, from both Democratic and Republican administrations, who
have extensive experience working with the career workforce to implement their
policy priorities and advance a mission that serves the nation.  Our speakers
will include:

Kathy Conrad, former Principal Deputy Associate Administrator for Citizen
Services and Innovative Technologies, GSA (Obama Administration)

Suzette Kent, former Federal CIO, Office of Management and Budget (Trump
Administration)

Sean O’Keefe, former Administrator, NASA (Bush Administration)

Robert Shea, former Associate Director, Office of Management and Budget (Bush
Administration)

Moderator: Don Kettl, Professor Emeritus and Former Dean at the University of
Maryland School of Public Policy
