PRINCIAL ENGINEER @ ULTRA HORIZON

I was the principal engineer for a variety of residential, commercial and
maritime networking projects spanning across the globe, leading teams to design
and implement ultra-fast and secure networks. I worked directly with clients and
contractors to ensure projects were delivered on time and budget. I designed and
oversaw production of Shorelink; an ultra-fast 4G/5G dome aimed at the maritime
industry.

LEAD UI DEVELOPER @ DELIO

As a Lead UI Developer, I sat between the UI designers and the engineering team
in a consultative role, aiming to preserve the business objectives and design
intent throughout the product development lifecycle. My key responsibilities
were to:
- Work directly with the design team to create product designs that were
achievable with our frontend framework and libraries
- Work with the engineering team (specifically the frontend developers) to
ensure that the final product stayed true to the vision of the design and
product team
- Build and maintain a component library & product style guide, which formed one
of the main branches of the company’s design system, with the aim of
standardising frontend development across multiple teams and products
- Improve upon key areas of the platforms UI, such as consistency,
responsiveness, efficiency of use, and usability

rewrite our entire platform from the ground up, using the latest and most
scalable technologies available. I was fortunate enough to lead the majority of
the frontend and UI development for the project - some of my key
responsibilities were: - Developing new frontend features in TypeScript &
React.js - Creating and maintaining the shared frontend component library and
packages, using Lerna - Ensuring each frontend product had suitable test
coverage, using Jest & Enzyme

CO-FOUNDER @ BLUEPRINT

Whilst in my final year of university myself and a partner identified a
potential gap in the architectural CAD market for a modified version of the
software I was currently writing for my final year project. After performing an
in-depth analysis into existing architecture/CAD software packages we began work
on Blueprint in August 2017, having secured our first round of external funding.

The foundation of the Blueprint proof of concept was written in C# and leveraged
the ObjectARX SDK to assess the AutoCAD API. JavaScript, more specifically the
Three.js library, was also used to develop the 3D aspects of the plugin. We
utilised TFVC version control and basic Kanban principles to ensure the project
and our productivity was managed efficiently over the 9 months.

During our time working on the software we attended several meetings with
leading architect companies in London, including Allford Hall Monaghan Morris
(AHMM) & David Chipperfield Architects, where we received very positive feedback
to our presentation and software demonstration.

Unfortunately in April 2018 our business venture was discontinued due to
unforeseen issues in the variance and quality of the architectural drawings,
which served as the input for our software. Because of these issues the main
functionalities of the plugin could not be performed autonomously and we
therefore lost our unique selling point. However, we are still confident that
certain elements of the Blueprint codebase have value and intend to release a
semi-automated version of the plugin on the Autodesk App Store.

EDUCATION

2013 — 2017

BSC COMPUTER SCIENCE @ UNIVERISTY OF READING

Grade: 1st class degree (Hons)

I graduated from the University of Reading with a 1st class degree in Computer
Science (accredited by the BCS) with a year in industry. I also achieved the
highest Computer Science final year project mark for which I was awarded the
Sullivan Prize.

PROJECTS

2016 — 2017

BLUEPRINT 3D MODELLING SUITE

For my final year project at university I wrote an application that allowed
users (students/parents/staff etc.) to view 3-dimensional, interactive models of
the buildings on the Unitverity of Reading campus. Within the application, users
could search for a room by specifying a room number and an entrance (or specify
'any' entrance), the application then plotted the quickest route from the
entrance to the room. Users could also interact (rotate and enlarge) with the
models on computers, tablets and mobile devices, across a range of operating
systems.

The motivation behind the project stemmed from constantly overhearing how
students (and I) had got lost whilst trying to find specific rooms on campus. It
was also glaringly obvious how prospective and new students may have struggled
to navigate the more complex campus buildings.

The sole aim of the project was to improve current navigation techniques
implemented inside large buildings and establishments. Current techniques were,
and still are, inaccurate, time consuming and outdated, with very little changes
being made since the buildings were first erected. The most common way of
finding a specific room inside a building is to study the building's floor plan
and memorise your route from the entrance to your room, using waypoint markers
along the route. In a similar scenario, Global Positioning Systems (GPS's) have
revolutionised travel, and have minimised the need to use a physical map for
directions, another technique that has been in use for hundreds of years.

I received 89% for the project, as well as being awarded the Sullivan Prize for
the highest Computer Science project mark in my university year. After
graduating university I secured funding to develop a modified version of the
software with a partner.

WHICHHALLS

During my first year of university I developed a website that allowed
past/current university students to write reviews of their halls of residence.
Each review included specifics such as cleanliness, security and value for
money, as well as a summary of the hall.

WhichHalls managed to gather over 150 reviews in a short period of time, however
due to a lack of time, technical expertise and funding, I decided to stop
development of the website.
