LOWES ONE YEAR PLANT GUARANTEE TIPS 2023

February 16, 2023February 15, 2023

Lowes plant return guarantee is pretty straight forward. Its two sentences but
you have to have your receipt if you want a refund or replacement. You must
bring in both the plant and the receipt. Even if the plant is dead, you have to
bring it in. Lowes doesn’t care how it died, but needs to see that is really is
dead.

HERE’S THE PLANT GUARANTEE POLICY FROM LOWES.COM:

“For replacement or refund, a receipt is required for any tree, shrub or
perennial purchased at Lowe’s within one year of the original purchase date. All
other plants fall under our 90-day return policy.”

Simple and to the point. Lowe’s guarantees their plants, trees, shrubs and
perennials for one full year. You must have the original receipt.  You will need
to bring in the dead plants along with your receipt. The plant guarantee isn’t a
refund but you will get store credit toward the purchase of additional plants or
replacement.

It’s even easier  if you keep your receipt or if you used your My Lowes card!

The Lowes 1 year plant guarantee is ONLY on perennials, not annuals.  So, yes
the Hydrangea or Butterfly Bush you bought last fall can be replaced.  The
Marigolds, Red Salvia and Begonia’s are not covered under the guarantee.

Home Depot has a similar plant replacement guarantee.

LOWES 1 YEAR PLANT GUARANTEE

From Lowes: If your trees, shrubs or perennials don’t survive a year, we’ll
replace them free of charge. Just bring in the plant and your receipt. Call your
local Lowes for details or 1 (800) 445-6937.

HOME DEPOT 1 YEAR PLANT GUARANTEE

From Home Depot: Perennials, trees and shrubs have a one-year guarantee. For
live goods purchased online including houseplants, perennials, trees, holiday
trees, wreaths and garlands, that are received damaged or dead, please contact
Online Customer Support at 1-800-430-3376 within 3 days of delivery and we will
promptly ship a replacement at no charge. Exceptions to this policy include cut
flowers and floral arrangements

COMMON TREE PLANTING MISTAKES

 1. The Root Ball.Dig a hole 3 to 4 times wider than the container. Before
planting, cut through the side of the root ball at four spots, then cut an X
at the bottom. This will prevent roots from circling around and not
    spreading out.
 2. Tree Base Planted too deeply, a tree can develop rot and insect problems.
Plant to shallow and the roots will not take hold deep enough into the soil.
 3. Mulching and Watering. Mulching is also key in retaining moisture in the
soil.  Make sure mulch is not piled up against the bark, where it can cause
moisture and insect problems. It should also direct water toward the roots,
rather than away from them.  Recommended amount of water is about 2″ per
week. Usually 30 seconds 3-4 days a week with water from a garden hose is
sufficient. That will work out to about 20-25 gallons of water a week.

TIPS AND TRICKS: FIRST, KEEP YOUR RECEIPT

The key to the plant guarantee is to keep your receipt or use your MyLowes Card
to track the purchase.

Keep all plant receipts and tags. If a plant does not make it to the one year
mark, do not hesitate to return it. You will then be issued a store credit which
you can use to buy a replacement plant or shrub.

This is a really great guarantee at both stores and one that’s really important
when it comes to planting trees and shrubs.  Be sure you save all your receipts
so you can receive your full credit.

IF YOU ARE RETURNING A DISCOUNTED PLANT

But what about clearance, reduced, distressed or marked down plants, trees and
shrubs?  Well, you probably get a store credit for the amount you paid.  For
example, if you bought a marked down tree for $5 and it usually sells for $25,
you most likely will get a store credit for $5.  You will probably not get a new
tree at $25.  Same as with any clearance purchase at Lowes or Home Depot.

Its basically handled like any other return at Lowes or Home Depot. No receipt
probably means no refund!  Stores really don’t care how the plant died, but they
do want your original receipt and they gladly replace your purchase.
