KEELEY ANGRY ORANGE, SUPER RODENT AND BLUES DISORDER

Keeley's popping off lately. I like the new form factor and design.

Blues Disorder - Bluesbreaker/OCD

Super Rodent - SD-1/Rat

Angry Orange - Civil War Big Muff/DS-1W

Kind of an interesting concept to combine the elements of two mostly unrelated
circuits that nonetheless have some overlap in application.

Interesting also how Robert Keeley mentions that the DS-1 in the Angry Orange is
specifically modeled after the Waza DS-1 as opposed to the ordinary one...

THE WORKING TOOL - VS. THE PRESTIGE OBJECT

I may be swimming against the tide here, but I want to air some thoughts
regarding the whole Epiphone/Squier vs Gibson/Fender-debate. The amount of
vitriol that the recent Epi Firebird release stirred here bears testimony to the
fact that we have strong opinions - well, here's mine.

I recently thinned the herd. I sold three Gibsons and two custom-built
instruments that weren't seeing much use.
Why? My Epihones and Squires have taken their places in my gigging rotation.
Why? I like 'em...

ARE CLEAN CUT YOUTUBE GUITARISTS KILLING ROCK AND ROLL?

Mar 05
 * Mar 5, 2024
 * Jamesejam

 * 14,216

When rock was at its peak, it was rebellious and edgy. Guitar players were
long-haired, half-in-the-bag filthmongers who lived in dirty houses with dirty
women.

Nowadays, the most visible guitarists are the recently showered, wedding-ringed
YouTube guys with fresh haircuts in a clean room with freshly vacuumed carpet
and framed Nirvana posters on the wall.

Seems like it's quickly becoming a hobby for establishment types who like to
follow rules rather than break them, rendering...

IF YOU WANTED TO GIG A LOT (FOR MONEY) - WOULD YOU CHOOSE TO BE A GUITARIST,

Assuming you enjoyed all and were also competent on all, which would you
personally choose to 'be' if you're primary goal was to gig and be 'in demand'?

I know it depends hugely on the music scene in question - but yeah please roll
with it!

The physical album format is in trouble. Vinyl records outsold CDs yet again in

No CD sold over 1 million copies in the US! Only 1 vinyl album sold that many.

HOW DO YOU DISPOSE OF GUITARS YOU NO LONGER PLAY?

I didn't know trading guitars rather than selling them was controversial before
yesterday. I got educated.

Now for my master's degree, I would like to have an idea what is the preference
of others.

I figure about 90% of folks couldn't care less about how it's gone, just that
they got a favorable deal. But for those of you with a preference, what say ye?

Let's say it's a guitar that would sell for $1000. I'm not talking about how you
get rid of kindling.

THE PERPETUAL CONFLICT BETWEEN ACQUIRING AND DOWNSIZING

I've been playing guitar for more than 37 years now, and I reckon that for most
of the past 20, there has been a constant pull in opposite directions to either
acquire all the guitars or to downsize to a more realistic collection. At one
point, I had about a dozen electrics, an acoustic, and a bass. A few months ago,
I was really determined to downsize my collection, and I got down to four
electrics. (I'll always keep a nice acoustic and a bass, so let's exclude those
from this...

DEF LEPPARD'S SECOND CAREER AS T SHIRT BRAND.

I have two 16 year old daughters. They, and most of their friends, tend to wear
classic rock t shirts. Def Leppard is the undisputed king, though. I think every
girl in their school has one or two DL shirts.

And no, none of them listen to Def Leppard. In fact, the couple times I've tried
to play DL for them, they totally hated it. I asked why the shirts are so
popular. They just said because they are cute 80's designs.

Anyway, is anyone else experiencing this? Or is it regional? I know...

a lot of modern guitarists.

IF "AMERICAN MADE" IS SO IMPORTANT, WHY ISN'T PEAVEY MORE POPULAR?

Personally, I don't care where a guitar is manufactured and I'm pretty sure I've
had examples from everywhere: America, Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, Korea, and
China. But to a lot of folks, "USA Made" is the pinnacle in guitar building.

So if that's the case- why aren't Peavey guitars more popular? Why do they sell
for WAY less than other US brands? I just did a local FB Marketplace search and
I found seven 1980's Peavey guitars- all in good-excellent condition and none
priced higher than...

What budget guitars do you all have that have become some of your favorites?
What kind of work or mods have you done to them to bring them to that status?
Let's see them.

Here's mine:
90's Epiphone Dot that I bought from someone on Harmony Central around
2003/2004. I think I sold it in 2008-ish and a couple of years later saw it pop
up on Craigslist and bought it back. I replaced the bridge with a Kluson
specifically made for these Samick Epiphones to fit the strange post spacing and
