* INTERMODAL TRANSPORTATION
CargoStar offers innovative multi-modal alternatives and combines ocean, air
and road freight transportation along with warehousing and logistics services
- if and when it is required. It is a unique service provision dedicated to
in transit shipments.
The particular service exploits Piraeus Port as the main and First Stop for
all westbound in transit shipments coming from the East and intended to be
delivered into the EU & the S. E. European countries.

- Collection of cargo upon container arrival at the Terminal
- Cargo promotion from Pier to Pier avoiding custom procedures
- Ability to manage & store cargo without any customs formalities /
guarantees / bureaucratic procedures until custom clearance (domestic market)

* EORI - ECONOMIC OPERATORS REGISTRATION AND IDENTIFICATION
The EORI system is established in order to implement the security measures
introduced by Regulation (EEC) No 2913/92, as amended by Regulation (EC) No
648/2005 of the European Parliament and of the Council. They will be more
effective if the persons concerned can be identified by a common number that
is unique to each individual and valid throughout the Community. Traders have
consistently been calling for this ever since mandatory identification codes
for traders were introduced by Regulation 2286/2003.
An EORI number is a unique number throughout the European Community, assigned
by a customs authority or designated authority or authorities in a Member
State to economic operators and other persons in accordance with the rules
laid down in Part I, Title I, Chapter 6 of the CCIP. The provisions on the
EORI number neither limits nor undermines the rights and obligations derived
from rules governing the requirement to register for, and obtain, any
identification number that may be required by individual Member States in
fields other than customs, such as taxation or statistics.
By registering, for customs purposes, in one Member State, operators are able
to obtain an EORI number that is valid throughout the Community. Obviously,
in order to benefit fully from this reform, holders must use the EORI number
- once it has been assigned - in all communications with any EC customs
authorities where a customs identifier is required.
Customs authorities in the EC must have easy and reliable access to
operators' registration and identification data. In order to ensure this, a
central electronic system will be developed for storing data on the
registration of economic operators and other persons and for exchanging data
on EORI numbers between customs authorities. This central system will hold
data listed in Annex 38d that is currently stored in each national system in
the Member States.

* AEO - AUTHORIZED ECONOMIC OPERATOR
Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status is granted by EU States to economic
operators. AEO status can be granted to any economic operator established in
the EU that meets the following common criteria stipulated in customs law.
- An appropriate record of compliance with customs requirements;
- A satisfactory system of managing commercial and, where appropriate,
transport records, which allows appropriate customs controls;
- Proven financial solvency;
- Where applicable, appropriate security and safety standards.
Economic operators who wish to apply for AEO status should apply to an AEO
competent customs authority.
Authorized Economic Operators benefit both from simplifications provided for
by the customs rules and/or facilitation with regard to customs controls
related to security and safety, according the type of certificate they
obtain.
Economic operators can apply for an AEO status either to have easier access
to customs simplifications or to be in a more favorable position to comply
with the new security requirements. Under the security framework, which has
been applicable since 1 July 2009, economic operators have to submit
pre-arrival and pre-departure information on goods entering or leaving the
EU. The security type of AEO certificate and the combined one allow their
holders to benefit from facilitations with regard to the new customs controls
relating to security.
