DEEEMOOOO PAGE FOR F5 BIG-IP LTM > You're on node #2 < SECURE The F5 offers a wide range of functionality to ensure a secure application or web service, e.g. the lastes TLS ciphers as well as functions such as HSTS to mitigate vulnerabilities. SSLLABS.COM A good way of ensuring your site is secure is by using SSL Labs to test it. When doing so, a good option is to click the Do not show the results on the boards to avoid displaying a vulnerable site to the public. FLEXIBLE The F5 platform offers a multitude of different techniques ensuring a flexible solution with quality throughout. MONITORS In this specific setup we're using two nodes with a monitor that checks for a specific value in a file in the webroot directory. This way a node can be taken out of the pool by the web administrator for maintenance. IRULES One of the big benefits of the F5 platform are the usage of iRules. The iRules are a high level scripting language which offers functionality which are otherwise hard to achieve. For instance on this setup we have a iRule inspecting the URL and places you on the node depending on the content. If you append /?server=1 you will end up on the first node in the pool, if nothing is specified round robin algorithm will be used. CERTIFICATES This setup uses a certificate from the relatively new certificate authority Letsencrypt. The CA is cross-signed by IdenTrust ensuring browser compatibilty. Requested certificates have to be renewed every two months. One other drawback is that it currently is not possible to use wildcard-certificates (*.domain.tld) - it is however possible to request multiple domains, getting a SAN-certificate in return. And it's free.
