Although this isn’t the MOST expensive place to dine in Magic Kingdom, it’s not
cheap either. There isn’t a lot here for picky eaters - almost everything here
is for those who have more adventurous taste buds. Dining here will take some
time out of your Magic Kingdom day. You want a quick meal - this is a sit-down
restaurant with a more laid back atmosphere.This is one of the most immersive
restaurants you’ll find in Disney World. You want to immerse yourself in Disney
storytelling and theming, which is SPOT on here, especially if you love the
Jungle Cruise.You have adventurous eaters in your party - the options here are a
lot more unique than anything else you’ll find in Magic Kingdom.Skipper Canteen
has a very chill vibe where you can escape the park’s crowds, as well as the
Florida heat and humidity. You want a hearty meal, where you can sit and
relax.We loved these and miss them! We now have Dan Dan Noodles, which can be
modified to be vegan.Overall, though, we thought all three new dishes are a
solid choice, depending on what you’re in the mood to eat. A favorite of our
friend Pamelia Perkins, Adventurers Club President. Previously on the menu were
the Perkins Thai Noodles: Tofu, Seasonal Vegetables, and Rice Noodles tossed in
a Spicy Soy-Chili-Garlic Sauce. A secret recipe of Chickpeas, Garlic, Onions,
Lemon Juice, and Herbs served with House-made Edamame Hummus and Toasted Pumpkin
Seeds. Having the soup AND the Falls Family Falafel might be a little chickpea
overload, so if choosing between the two, we’d still go with the falafel which
are amazing.

enjoyed it, however and would definitely order it again. If anything, it was a
little on the salty side. I’m not sure if the Canteen chefs read that review,
but our soup was far from bland and flavorless. When this was initially brought
onto the menu a reviewer noted it was bland and flavorless. The soup is topped
with fresh tomato relish and fried chickpeas for a unique crunchy texture. There
is no dairy of any kind, or even plant-based milk. The Chickpea Soup is (as you
might imagine) blended Berber spiced chickpeas, seasoned with Berber spices and
onions. Since it is seasonal, this may change and not be vegan when it does, but
for now, it is 100% vegan as is! UPDATE: It has been updated and is still vegan!
It is now Carrot Ginger soup. The rest of the options are still there, as well
as a new vegan seasonal soup option: the Lost and Found Soup. The Jungle Green
Salad ( from the depths of the Jungle…Skipper Bill’s Iceberg Wedge with Shishito
Peppers, Radish, Hearts of Palm, Cucumbers, and Pistachios), can be made vegan
by replacing the yogurt dressing for oil and vinegar.Ĭurrently with the pandemic
conditions and capacity limits, the Shiriki Noodle Salad is not on the menu, but
should return as the park returns to normal. The Falls Family Falafel appetizer,
(no longer available are the Perkins Thai Noodles and Shirki Noodle Salad), and
Curry Vegetable Stew are all great choices. Skipper Canteen has offered several
vegan choices since opening, which is why it is a much beloved table service
option among plant-based park goers. Physical distancing in place at tables
inside Skipper Canteen Vegan Options at Skipper Canteen Disney nerds and history
buffs will not be disappointed. If you visit, be sure to explore the props all
around the main room, the names of the books in the bookcase area (hilarious
puns and inside Disney jokes), and the decor in the S.E.A.

(the Society of Explorers and Adventurers). There are 3 themed rooms within the
space – the Crew’s Mess Hall, the Jungle Room, and the secret area behind a
bookcase (which has been propped open) which is a meeting location for S.E.A.
More than just a new dining option, Skipper Canteen offers a whole new themed
area, bringing the storyline started with the Jungle Cruise attraction itself
over to the “canteen.” Located in the former Adventureland Veranda space, the
Jungle Navigation Co. (Matt Stroshane, photographer) Jungle Navigation Co. Best
of all, the vegan options at Skipper Canteen are as abundant as bad jokes on the
Jungle Cruise! More than the sub-par food Magic Kingdom once had a reputation
for, this spot really elevated the options for those visiting the Magic Kingdom.
LTD Skipper Canteen is probably my favorite spot in the Magic Kingdom for table
service.

MILITARY STRUGGLES ROOT OUT SEXUAL ASSAULTS

The latest sexual assault allegation emerged this week and involved an Army
soldier who was assigned to prevent such crimes - the second military member
facing similar accusations.

The Pentagon had scheduled a briefing for journalists Thursday with Hagel and
Dempsey, but after the White House meeting was announced, the Pentagon news
conference was postponed until Friday. In fact, we have to be better than this."
"Instinctively, I knew it had to have some effect."ĭempsey added: "This is not
to make excuses. "I tasked those around me to help me understand what a
decade-plus of conflict may have done to the force," he said. Dempsey suggested
that a deepening of the sexual assault problem may be linked to the strains of
war. "That's a crisis," Dempsey said in remarks during a flight from Europe to
Washington that were reported by the American Forces Press Service, which is the
Pentagon's internal news agency. "We're losing the confidence of the women who
serve that we can solve this problem," Dempsey said Wednesday. Changing the
culture of a male-dominated, change-resistant military that for years has
tolerated sexism and sexist behavior is proving to be a challenging task. Yet
there seem to be few clear solutions beyond improved training and possible
adjustments in how the military prosecutes such crimes. He said he wants the
military and others to explore every good idea to fix the problem, saying "I
want to leave no stone unturned." Obama said Hagel would consult with Congress
as well as other militaries around the world.Īllegations of sexual assault in
the military have triggered outrage from local commanders to Capitol Hill and
the Oval Office.

STARCRAFT 2 ARCADE GAME PROJECT HAVEN CLASSES

There are a whole bunch of external systems such as an XP, banking, unit-merging
and betting system that round out the map as a rare kind of tower defense map
that you genuinely want to sink some time into. While both Starcraft 2 and its
cousin Warcraft 3 have a strong track record when it comes to tower defense
maps, Lottery Defense is a genuinely fresh take on the genre with players
earning random units through lottery tickets that are earned by killing enemy
units. The project is so ambitious that it even ran a recent Kickstarter that
outlines some of the bigger features in the pipeline – this is definitely
something to keep an eye on. The ambitious project is still in the works but
it’s aiming to build a Starcraft MMORPG with its own character classes, loot and
even achievement systems. It’s set in an alternate timeline in the Starcraft
universe and sets players as members of a Terran-Protoss alliance scraping by
against an unstoppable Zerg and Hybrid threat. Where Starcraft Battlefront
pushes the Starcraft 2 engine to its limits, Starcraft Universe: Chronicles of
Fate goes well and truly beyond them. Related: Among The Sleep Coming To
PlayStation 4 Starcraft Universe Every game of Nexus Wars is a fun tug of war
and I highly recommend it. Each player builds structures that then march against
the enemy the strategy of the game comes in which units you send against the
enemy – will your forces directly counter theirs or will you attempt to pick a
single unit and overwhelm them with sheer numbers.

The Starcraft-native custom map sets two teams of four players against each
other. I’ve long been a believer that Nexus Wars could very well be the next big
strategy sub-genre in the same way that Defense of the Ancients has. It’s a good
take on a classic and the map’s not complete so it’ll be quite cool to see what
other features make it into the final version. Players play as a Zerg overlord
and can dig tunnels and build rooms to expand their layer and build traps to
deal with pesky incursions by enemies seeking to destroy your hive. Hive Keeper
attempts to bring the fun of the Bullfrog Classic Dungeon Keeper series to
Starcraft. Players can control all sorts of space based units and engage in
enormous and frenetic space battles, it’s a truckload of fun and a genuinely
well made mod that gives you a different taste of the Starcraft universe and is
a lot of fun the more players you can get involved. Star Battle takes the ground
based warfare of Starcraft and moves it into space. Where it gets interesting is
that The Phantom gains a bonus to his resources and supply that is constantly
growing so the longer that the game drags, the harder it is for The Phantom to
hide himself and the more difficult it becomes for the other players to defeat
him – it’s an absolute blast to play with friends over Skype. Things play out
like a multiplayer free-for-all with one player being designated ‘The Phantom’
and the other players are tasked with identifying and eliminating The Phantom.
Phantom is a special form of custom map which often results in some pretty
hilarious games of intrigue. While the map doesn’t do all that much new (it’s a
pretty faithful adaption) Mafia is pretty fun game in its own right and with a
player base the size of Starcraft’s it’s never hard to find players to play
with. MafiaĪ surprising number of board games have been remade in the Starcraft
engine and now the classic party game Mafia can now be played through Starcraft.
More experienced Starcraft players have the chance to refine their
micro-management skills while new players have the chance to learn those same
skills.

There’s a ton of fun minigames to play through that appeal to both new and old
players. It takes all the assets of Blizzard’s campaign and recycles them to
create a new vision for the game with a Mario-Party inspired twist. Raynor Party
is hardly a new addition to the arcade but it’s still well worth checking out.
Although the Starcraft Arcade has always hosted more than a few gems, its new
free-to-play status means there’s never been a better time to convert your
friends to Starcraft 2 for free with these fun arcade maps.

While the recent rise in the popularity of MOBAs like DOTA 2 and League of
Legends has definitely led to a shift in attention away from Blizzard’s premier
RTS Starcraft 2, there are still plenty of reasons to stick with Starcraft given
the new focus that the 2.1 update has given to the Arcade mode.
