JAMES FENTON

LIMS CONSULTANT - AUTOSCRIBE INFORMATICS

"DRIVING AUTOMATION, MANAGEMENT AND PROFITABILITY IN YOUR LABORATORY"

Speaker Bio Synopsis

James has worked in and around laboratories throughout his career. He currently
works for Autoscribe Informatics, a laboratory software provider specialising in
highly-configurable LIMS solutions, as a LIMS consultant. Prior to this role
James worked as a Laboratory Operations Manager in a high throughput genomics
laboratory which conducted over 31 million SARS-CoV-2 test on behalf of the UK
Government. As a LIMS Consultant James currently provides advice on automation
and sample management to laboratories in Ireland and the UK. In his spare time
he plays football and cricket, and enjoys taking his two dogs on long walks.

Efficiency and speed continues to drive successful laboratories, and that means
ruthless automation to reduce manual touchpoints to a minimum. This talk
explores the best practices being used in modern laboratories to manage
laboratory process flows, capture and retrieve data, and to free up laboratory
staff from mundane tasks to concentrate on higher value work. Discover how the
best laboratories use the power of computers and laboratory software to drive
this automation and improve their bottom line profitability.

MARTIN LILL

DIRECTOR - INTERNATIONAL MARKETING - LAKELAND INDUSTRIES INC

"THE COMMON MIS-INTEPRETATION OF INFECTIOUS AGENT STANDARD EN 14126 AND HOW IT
COULD MEAN OPERATORS ARE NOT AS WELL PROTECTED AS YOU THINK."

Speaker Bio Synopsis

Martin has over 25 years’ experience in industrial protective clothing with a
focus on chemical protection. From 1991 to 2001 he was Sales Manager and later
Sales Director at Microgard (now Ansell), handling all European sales and
marketing but also heavily involved in product development. In 2002 he joined
Lakeland, setting up and running the European Sales Division and managing year
on year growth until 2016 when he moved to his current global marketing position
with Lakeland.

The European Standard for protection against infectious agents – important for
ensuring protection in laboratories used for development of vaccines and
research into pathogens – is widely misinterpreted at different levels. This
talk explains the standard, how it should be used for ensuring selected clothing
provides effective protection, and how the common mis-understanding can result
in under-protection for workers.

LUCY MOORE

SUSTAINABILITY MANAGER - SCIENTIFIC LABORATORY SUPPLIES LTD.

"THE JOURNEY TO DETERMINING PRODUCT SUSTAINABILITY"

Speaker Bio Synopsis

Lucy is the Sustainability Manager at Scientific Laboratory Supplies (SLS), a
leading supplier and distributor of high-quality laboratory equipment,
consumables, and services. Her responsibilities span across both operational and
supply chain sustainability, as well as customer engagement and awareness.
Previously, Lucy has worked in supplier engagement to facilitate corporate
sustainability, and also within the higher education field consulting and
delivering sustainability workshop programmes.

Let’s face it - the laboratory space has been dealt a difficult hand when it
comes to sustainability. And this complexity makes it very tempting to blindly
embrace any green coloured branding, vague blanket statements, or
over-enthusiastic marketing slogans which make products sound like a sustainable
choice. This talk explores the current maturity and capability of the laboratory
market from a sustainability perspective and how labs can effectively navigate
the challenges faced when addressing product sustainability.
