1988 JOHNSON J SCOW: SOLD

August 3, 2020 Uffdah!

This lovely boat has seen little or no use in the past 10 years and the owner
says it’s time to find someone who will sail it! The boat in the pictures look
red, but it is actually orange. Comes with trailer and one sail. There is
paperwork on the boat and trailer. Boat is located in Iowa. Submit your info in
the form below. More photos at this link. The J scow is a close cousin of the MC
Scow.

As the saying goes, an expert is anyone from more than 50 miles away.   But this
time it was a real expert. 

Andy Allen of Lake Wawasee Indiana  joined the Fleet of the Potomac for a tune
up session April 3.  With races beginning that Sunday, Andy’s rigging expertise

Prag holds aloft the consecrating dram…



The incantation was read from notes with all the gravity that one might expect
on the occasion of a boat re-plating.  This was serious business for Prag Katta,
a new I20 skipper who beat out a horde of buyers vying for the rights to a 1987
Johnson I20 that has been chewing up the competition under the steady hand of

HOME OF JOHNSON BOATWORKS DEMOLISHED

Down she went. The building that housed the century-old Johnson Boat Works was
flattened with hydraulic shovels in 2013 to make room for senior living on the
shores of White Bear Lake Minnesota.  This might seem obscure to the casual
reader, but here on the Potomac, it hits home.

The fleet of the Potomac includes six scows from Johnson Boat Works, in White
Bear Lake Minnesota.
