INTERNSHIP FUNDING AWARD 2024 APPLICATION DEADLINE

February 14, 2024 – June 11, 2024

This funding award program is designed to assist full-time undergraduate
students at Syracuse University who are participating in external internship
opportunities during the summer term. Syracuse University established this award
in order to cover the cost of credit for students when required by a company
and/or to provide support for living expenses associated with summer
internships. Applicants must meet with their financial aid advisor to discuss
any implications the award may have on their financial aid package. Applying
Students are invited to apply for the 2024 Internship Funding Award on
Handshake. Please visit the Career Services website for additional information
and instructions. Completed applications will be reviewed on a biweekly basis.
Feedback on status can vary between 4-6 weeks from submission.


GOON SQUAD 2024 REGISTRATION DEADLINE

April 4, 2024 – July 21, 2024

Since 1944, Goon Squad members have been the friendly group of returning
students who greet new students as they arrive on campus and help them move into
their residence halls. Working closely with Orientation Leaders and staff, Goon
Squad members provide mentorship to new students through wayfinding, move-in
support, sharing resources and more. All returning students welcome! Goon Squad
Perks Early move-in. Volunteer hours. If your Registered Student Organization
(RSO) meets the volunteer requirement, you’re invited to table at the Orange
Blast! Involvement Fair. Recruit new students for your RSO. Support the Orange
community. Receive 80th anniversary Goon Squad swag. Register today to be part
of the 80th Goon Squad team!


ENROLL OR WAIVE DEADLINE: STUDENT HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN

April 24, 2024 at 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Each year, all full-time, matriculated undergraduate, graduate and law students
are required to demonstrate proof of qualifying health insurance coverage or
enroll into the Student Health Insurance Plan. Students within traditionally
online degree programs are not eligible to enroll in or waive the Student Health
Insurance Plan. MySlice instructions to enroll into the Student Health Insurance
Plan. MySlice instructions to waive out of the Student Health Insurance Plan.
Enroll or Waive Period Opens: Wednesday, April 24, 2024 Deadline: Monday, Sept.
16, 2024 No Action Taken Failure to take action or receive an approved waiver by
Monday, Sept. 16, 2024, will result in automatic enrollment into the Student
Health Insurance Plan and the premium fee of $2,474 (pending approval by New
York State) to remain on the student’s Bursar account.


REIKI CHAIR SESSIONS

May 7, 2024 at 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm
Barnes Center at The Arch

The Barnes Center at The Arch will be offering Reiki chair sessions for
students. Come check it out!  What Is Reiki? Reiki is an energy healing
technique that promotes relaxation and reduces stress and anxiety through gentle
touch. Reiki practitioners use their hands to deliver energy to your body,
improving the flow and balance of your energy to support healing. What Is a
Reiki Session Like? Reiki is administered through the hands of a Reiki
practitioner. The chair sessions offered will be about 5-10 minutes. The
practitioner will work around the head, shoulders and feet. Please let the
practitioner know if it is preferred that the treatment be no-contact. What Are
the Benefits of Reiki? Reiki promotes relaxation, stress reduction and symptom
relief to improve overall health and well-being. It may also include the
following: Bring on a meditative state. Foster tissue and bone healing after
injury or surgery. Stimulate the body’s immune system. Promote natural
self-healing. Relieve pain and tension. Feelings of peace, relaxation, security
and/or wellness.


SENIOR CELEBRATION 2024

May 9, 2024 at 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Einhorn Family Walk

Senior Celebration is one of the final festivities for seniors to get together
with classmates and friends in celebration of their time at Syracuse University!
The Einhorn Family Walk will come alive with music, food trucks, commemorative
make-and-takes, caricatures, airbrush hats and photo ops.


LTANWA ORINWA 2024

May 10, 2024 at 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
The Dome

Itanwa Orinwa (Our Story, Our Song) is a graduation ceremony dedicated to
celebrating the achievements of Syracuse University graduates of color. ltanwa
Orinwa was founded in 2002 at Syracuse University by a group of distinguished
Black students. The mission is to create an annual observance honoring all
degree candidates who identify as being part of the African Diaspora. This
includes, but is not exclusive to: African American, African, Caribbean and
Latin students. The purpose of this celebration is to acknowledge the historical
plight of our people’s pursuit to and through higher education systems, and to
provide a historical voice and story that can be a legacy for generations to
come. The Class of 2024 Itanwa Orinwa keynote speaker will be announced in the
spring semester. Degree recipients who would like to be honored during the
ceremony, as well as faculty and staff who would like to process at the
ceremony, are asked to complete the Itanwa Orinwa registration form by Friday,
May 3. Non-degree recipients and all other attendees do not need to register.
