Guadalupe Guerrero has been named the recipient of the national
Superintendent of the Year Award by the Association of Latino Administrators
and Superintendents (ALAS).
Superintendent Guerrero, who this month is celebrating his four-year
anniversary in Portland Public Schools, will be honored Saturday in
Washington D.C. at the ALAS 18th Annual National Gala Awards and Dinner.

Portland Public Schools is one of eight U.S. school districts chosen to
receive an $8.2 million, five-year grant from the Wallace Foundation to build
an equity-centered pipeline for hiring and training principals. The grant
will support the district in further accelerating progress on its racial
equity and social justice commitments to students and the larger PPS
