Held over five days, the course covers the five central pillars which are
essential for Directors to command – Responsibilities, Strategy, Finance,
Marketing and Leadership. From expert-led discussions, to practical tools and
discussions with peers, this course is a high-impact, engaging way to accelerate

OVERVIEW

This intensive Director’s Excellence Programme focuses on five key topics
essential to high-performing Directors. Beginning with ‘Being a Director:
Responsibilities, Governance and the Board’, the course explores the Director’s
role, legal frameworks, boardroom dynamics and risk management. Day Two,
‘Strategy: Director and Results’ focuses on the key stages of strategic thinking
and strategy development. Day three outlines the key financial concepts and
analysis Directors should be aware of, whilst day four examines the components
of effective marketing strategies. The final day, ‘Mastering the Skillset of
Successful Managers and Leaders’ practically explores how to influence, motivate
and drive high-performing teams.

Mark Dean – Course Instructor



Mark, has been the Director of People Team and Change Solutions Ltd for the last
12 years. He has helped organisations learn and change for more than 30 years,
winning a “Vision 100” award for visionary leadership as Director of the PTS
Consortium (a unique self funding unit of the Department for Business Innovation
and Skills running as a public/private sector partnership).

He has delivered and project managed many successful learning solutions for
customers in both the public and private sectors including strategy, leadership
and diversity programmes, competence development and implementation, recruitment
and selection training, on line assessment and feedback systems and e-learning
projects.

Mark is MBTI and TMSDI accredited , a registered Prince 2 Practitioner and
approved by the Institute of Leadership and Management.

Recently, Mark has regularly worked with a range of customers from within the UK
and overseas to provide strategy and policy advice and learning and on business
regulation.

Prior to setting up and running People, Team and Change Solutions Ltd, Mark’s
experience  included:

 * conceiving, setting up and running a unique public private sector partnership
   which successfully competed in the open market for over 20 years,
 * acting as the policy lead on negotiations with companies to secure
   internationally mobile projects e.g. Nissan, Dow Corning and Fujitsu for the
   UK;
 * working on the mbo of the Cornish Tin Mines, monitoring progress under the
   ground and representing the Government at Board meetings
 * working as a regulator in the Office of Fair Trading dealing with advertising
   regulation, doorstep sales, mock auctions and bargain offer claims;
 * providing business advice to support ministerial competition decisions

Ian ‘Ren’ Rennie – Course Instructor



Ren is a learning and development designer and facilitator specialising in
strategy, policy and talent management,  He has extensive domestic and
international experience that has seen him work for the ILO, EU and working
in-country for Governments across Europe and the Caribbean as well as Egypt,
Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, South Africa, Uganda and the United Arab
Emirates.

Ren’s work on talent management has seen him deliver prestigious leadership and
high potential future leadership programmes across the UK Civil Service, most
recently facilitating the FCDO’s fast stream programme.

Ren brings his experience to help customers in the commercial, public, and
not-for-profit sector by delivering:

 * operational consultancy (working alongside teams on problems or
   opportunities)
 * developmental consultancy (helping individuals and teams to develop
   knowledge, skills and experience).

He does this by designing and facilitating open and bespoke learning events,
providing bespoke in-house consultancy work, and delivering executive coaching
services.

Ren’s is recognised as a:

 * Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development
 * Member of the Chartered Institute of Management (for whom he facilitates
   Level 7 programmes)
 * facilitator of learning programmes for the Institute of Leadership and
   Management
 * OPP qualified facilitator of Myers Briggs Type Indicator
 * qualified facilitator of TMS Development International instruments.

 

Zahoor Bargir – Course Instructor



History and Experience

Zahoor is a personable and versatile finance trainer who is experienced in
delivering training that is interactive, effective and fun. A qualified
accountant by profession, he has worked as a consultant and manager in numerous
sectors before specialising as a trainer.

He has worked at companies like PwC, Diageo and UNICEF, as well as start-ups and
other SMEs. Experience of working in different industries has made it easier for
him to tailor his training to people working in a variety of sectors.

Having worked with such an array of companies, Zahoor has developed a knack for
communicating complex techniques into their core component parts. He is,
therefore, passionate about helping others see the simplicity in the numbers and
what they mean.

Clients

Clients Zahoor has worked with both private sector (ABN AMRO, Capita plc, Wincor
Nixdorf, Clydesdale Bank and Fujitsu) and public sector organisations (Transport
for London, Channel Four, HM Prisons, Companies House, numerous county councils,
The Treasury and the Civil Service).

Zahoor has also undertaken a number of consultancy assignments in finance and
commerce, where he designed and delivered specific internal training programmes
for BT, Fujitsu, Capita and numerous County Councils.

Training Style

Drawing on his experience in industry enables him to contextualise the training
material, whilst encouraging delegates to share their own thoughts and
experiences. Zahoor takes a very pragmatic approach to training. Whatever your
professional background and whether you are comfortable with numbers or not,
