The San Diego Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP-CA3), a 501c3
organization, is a trusted leader for children’s health and well-being.  In
addition to providing member services for local pediatricians since 1961, the
AAP-CA3 oversees several community projects in support of child health
initiatives.

Legislative Advocacy

AAP-CA3 encourages advocacy amongst its members and other’s in the community who
have an interest in issues affecting children. Visit our Advocacy page for
convenient links and updated news.

Healthy Development Services

AAP-CA3 provides countywide coordination and support to the First 5 Commission
of San Diego’s Healthy Development Services (HDS) project that provides
health-oriented services to children ages 0-5.

First 5 First Steps

First 5 First Steps provides home visitation services for expectant parents to
promote positive parenting and enhanced child health and development.

Resources

AAP-CA3 provides valuable archives and links to a variety of local, state, and
nationwide resources for healthcare and child welfare professionals, parents and
educators.

Reach Out and Read San Diego

Reach Out and Read San Diego, a program of AAP-CA3, prepares San Diego’s
youngest children to succeed in school by partnering with doctors to prescribe
books and encourage families to read together.
