WHAT’S MISSING FROM POST-APOCALYPTIC TALES?

As an immigrant child, Betsy Huang connected with Tolkien’s “The Hobbit,” where

As someone who is passionate about sustainability and botany, Cyd Abnet ’24
found that her summer internship among the centuries-old graves at
@mountauburncemetery personified her research interests while allowing her to
work at the oldest landscaped cemetery in the country.

“At cemeteries, you celebrate life with plants and rich horticulture, and also
recognize that life ends in death,” she says. “This one place represents a full
circle, from birth to the end of whatever journey you’re on.”

This week, ClarkFEST Fall 2023 celebrated the intellectual and creative energies
of Clark students, and their collaboration with faculty mentors, through an
exhibition of posters and creative works in Tilton Hall, interactive media
exhibits in the Center for Media Arts, Computing, and Design, and paper
presentations in ASEC.

See link in bio to check out a sampling of how these students are continuing the
Clark tradition of challenging convention and changing our world.

Noah Katz ’26 has combined his deep admiration for the umpiring profession, his
undeniable entrepreneurial gene, and his social media skills to create a
successful online presence dedicated to the people behind the plate.

Katz is the creator and promoter of @TheUmpireChannel, which he describes as
“the leading source of umpiring-related content in the world.” In about a year
and a half, his social media channels have attracted an astounding 130,000
followers and 60 million views of his content that celebrates all things
umpiring.

He’s taken his video camera into ballparks throughout the country to interview
umpires and players at just about every level of the sport — from youth leagues
to Major League Baseball — becoming an increasingly recognizable presence on the
field.

See link in bio to read his story.

At Clark, a passionate community of student poets quietly write and rewrite for
campus publications — or their own pleasure — and motivate one another to
improve their craft. Their work is featured in a new literary magazine.
