Powered by The Patient Choice Coalition @The Patient Choice Coalition 12 months ago Are you an out-of-network healthcare provider and wish that insurance companies would pay you directly for your services? There is good news....Recently passed Patient Choice Coalition legislation in Oklahoma will ensure that patients can assign their health insurance benefits to the health care provider of their choice, regardless of network status. Watch the video below to learn more The Patient Choice Coalition @The Patient Choice Coalition 1 year ago Patient Choice Coalition legislation, House Bill 1504 by Sneed & Bullard, successfully passes both Oklahoma House and Senate; this legislation now heads to Governor Stitt. HB1504 enables patients to assign their health insurance benefits to the health care provider of their choice, regardless of network status. Rather than health care providers having to "chase" payment from their patients, health insurers will be required to make payment directly. Thank you to Representative Sneed and Senator Bullard for all your efforts in passing this important legislation. The Patient Choice Coalition @The Patient Choice Coalition 1 year ago The TDI (Texas of Department of Insurance) announces new executive leadership. You may be asking, "what is the Texas Department of Insurance, and what is their function?" TDI regulates the state’s insurance industry, oversees the administration of the Texas workers’ compensation system, performs the duties of the State Fire Marshal’s Office, and provides administrative support to the Office of Injured Employee Counsel – a separate agency. Texas Insurance Code requires TDI to: Regulate the business of insurance in Texas. Protect and ensure the fair treatment of consumers. Ensure fair competition in the insurance industry to foster a competitive market. Administer the Texas’ workers’ compensation system as provided by the Texas Labor Code. Ensure that the insurance code and other laws regarding insurance and insurance companies are executed. The Patient Choice Coalition @The Patient Choice Coalition 1 year ago Texas Republican Dade Phelan re-elected as House Speaker of the 88th Legislative Session Listed below are his legislative priorities: *Providing lasting, meaningful property tax relief; *Increasing access to and giving patients greater control over their healthcare; *Prioritizing criminal justice reform, DA accountability, and public safety; *Utilizing the state's once-in-a-lifetime budget surplus to improve infrastructure; *Fighting back against the exploitation, sexualization, and indoctrination of Texas children; *Making schools safer for students and teachers; *Extending postpartum health coverage for new mothers to a full year; and *Addressing the threats posed by a porous border The Patient Choice Coalition @The Patient Choice Coalition 1 year ago The 88th Texas Legislature convenes today at 12pm. The state legislature convenes every other year for 140 days. The House of Representatives will elect the Speaker of the House of Representatives. However, there are instances where patients find themselves unsure of how much their healthcare provider expects for payment, as well as the amount their insurance company will cover. In this interview with KXAN, I discuss my support of Senate Bill 2122 by Sen. Hughes of Mineola, Texas. Simply put, Senate Bill 2122 required an itemized list of healthcare charges be provided to patients prior to the pursuit of debt collection; this is common sense legislation. Most of our independent providers and physician-owned facilities have been providing these itemized list for years. However, there are those within the industry that have been reluctant or slow to provide this transparency. There's nothing wrong with private companies being profitable, but it's seemingly at the expense of someone else. Because it pits patients against their healthcare provider(s), undermines that relationship, while simultaneously creating a perception that health insurers provide a valuable service and "know what's best" for their patients. Health insurance is an ancillary industry that has taken control of our healthcare. The Patient Provider relationship must be strengthened. https://www.wsj.com/amp/articles/health-care-bill-prices-copay-deductible-insurance-company-11649457185 The Patient Choice Coalition @The Patient Choice Coalition 2 years ago Patient Choice Coalition legislation (HB2322) makes headlines.... https://www.thecentersquare.com/oklahoma/bill-would-fine-oklahoma-health-insurance-companies-that-do-not-pay-claims/article_d7f48f04-b9cf-11ec-a2ea-778eaaa99e27.html The Patient Choice Coalition @The Patient Choice Coalition 2 years ago House Bill 2322 by Rep.
