THE KAUFMAN COUNTY CRIMINAL DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE IS DEDICATED TO SEEKING
JUSTICE FOR THE SAFETY AND WELL-BEING OF OUR COMMUNITY.
As Dallas County’s neighbor to the east, Kaufman County is one of the fastest
growing counties in Texas. Constantly faced with new and emerging issues, the
District Attorney’s Office strives to prosecute crime ethically and fairly while
safeguarding our victims’ rights.

Erleigh N. Wiley – District Attorney
Erleigh N. Wiley graduated from Kaufman High School. She attended college at
Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas with a major in Finance. Attended law
school at the University of Texas, School of Law in Austin, Texas and was
admitted to the Texas Bar in 1989.
After graduation from law school, began work for the Dallas County District
Attorney’s Office. Supervisor of CPS/Juvenile cases in the Dallas County family
courts, managing fourteen courts. In 2002 elected as the County Court-at-Law
Judge in Kaufman County, a court with general jurisdiction, presiding over
family, civil, and criminal matters. She was appointed by Governor Perry as the
District Attorney of Kaufman County in 2013. Erleigh was elected to serve her
3rd term in 2022.
MISSION STATEMENT
THE MISSION OF THE KAUFMAN COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE IS TO EFFECTIVELY
PROSECUTE THOSE WHO COMMIT CRIMES, PROTECT THE VICTIMS OF CRIME, AND MAKE
KAUFMAN COUNTY A SAFER PLACE TO LIVE.
* Pursuant to Article 2.01 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, “It shall
be the primary duty of all prosecuting attorneys, including any special
prosecutors, not to convict, but to see that justice is done.” The District
Attorney’s Office is committed to securing justice without regard to status,
race, gender, national origin, or prominence of either the victims of crime
or those charged with crimes. The office believes that criminals should be
held accountable and that victims should be treated with dignity and
compassion.
* In furtherance of this mission, the District Attorney’s Office seeks to
employ individuals of the highest integrity, skill, and courage, who are
committed to excellence, fairness, and justice. The Office strives to create
an atmosphere that is friendly, professional, and supportive.
* The Kaufman County District Attorney’s Office is committed to being tough and
smart on crime, continuously striving for justice, and making Kaufman County
