On the final stretch of Sunday's Los Angeles Times-sponsored Hero Complex Film
Festival, Robert Downey Jr. joined Iron Man director Jon Favreau for an
illuminating Q&A. Talk stretched into 2013's Iron Man 3, which will be directed
by Shane Black, as well as The Avengers, which is currently filming. And, in
that, it became clear that Favreau is still willing to support and help the Iron
Man franchise.

/Film has the full transcript of the chat, during which there are very strong
hints that the Cowboys & Aliens director would return to Iron Man 3 in an acting
capacity, to reprise his role of Happy Hogan, Tony Stark's bodyguard and
personal chauffeur. The director-actor went all the way to 1966's Tales of
Suspense #74, adding a clause to spark further interest in the third installment
of Marvel's box office bonanza by saying, "I want a love scene with Pepper
Potts, with my shirt on, and I want to transform into The Freak."

Downey Jr. also revealed that he and Favreau sought Black's advice while filming
Iron Man 2, and that Black is likely to ask the same of his predecessor. While
it's encouraging to see that Favreau isn't cutting ties with the Iron Man
franchise, and we're intrigued by what Black can do as the new director, the
question remains whether this trio will have enough ingenuity to make Iron Man 3
better than the cluttered, and ultimately disappointing, Iron Man 2, which we're
still salty about.
