I made some mistakes and errors of judgment with his care that I’ll always regret but on the whole he did pretty well between me and the Neighbourhood Vet.
Thank you particularly Topaz and Sean who identified two chronic health conditions and bought us priceless time together that we otherwise wouldn’t have had. Especially his hyperthyroidism after the chaos of lockdowns, pressure on the veterinary profession and what turned into the last year of his life.
The whole team here were very understanding and patient over time when I suppose I went from being fairly hands-off to very protective after my cat was bullied by truly evil neighbours at The Gardens. He developed epilepsy as a result that was only triggered by certain noises that reminded him of these incidents. I moved flats twice because of this and he ended up living on his anti-anxiety pills and other meds to 18+.
He could’ve actually been older as the shelter I adopted him from as a hefty cat in 2006 didn’t know his past and could only give an approximate age of 18 months.
My ONLY reason for 4 stars is my deep disappointment and hurt re the emergency vet information that’s available from here. My experience at the South London Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Streatham was ABSOLUTELY appalling. The emergency vet on duty on the evening of Monday 30.01.23 when my cat collapsed was devoid of empathy, he was offhand, arrogant and it turns out afterwards, when it was too late, a VERY poor communicator regarding my beloved Bunny Bear’s diagnosis, which I based my decision on to have him PTS. I now still don’t trust the diagnosis I was given at Streatham. I therefore would NOT recommend that emergency vet clinic at all. STAY WELL AWAY.
The South London Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Streatham wasn’t even close to busy on the night of 30.01.23. No other people or pets were waiting to be seen but with hindsight Bunny and I were treated like nothing more than an inconvenience and chore despite me not making a scene of any sort or any demands. I was in too much shock to cause any disruption or cause the vet on duty any trouble.
An emergency with a beloved pet is traumatic and distressing enough, without being treated with coldness and contempt. The experience has made grieving so much harder, if indeed it was and still is necessary for me to be grieving in the first place.
I’d never had an emergency with my cat before and yes, I should’ve already been prepared for one. Unfortunately, I completely panicked when my cat collapsed and I didn’t go to the closer emergency clinic in Camberwell. That said, it is my hope that the Neighbourhood Vet will reconsider their links with the South London Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Streatham and change their out of hours answer phone recording that allows callers to go straight through to Streatham. I will always wish I had not pressed the option for Streatham at approximately 19:45 out of sheer panic and desperation as my precious cat was in crisis.
If it was definitely kindest to have my cat PTS, I sincerely wish I’d been able to do this at the Neighbourhood Vet in East Dulwich instead - with people who knew him and who would’ve been clear to the best of their ability about a diagnosis and prognosis before I made an irrecoverable decision. And I have no doubt the Neighbourhood Vet would’ve treated Bunny (and me) with kindness and respect.
Thank you everyone at the Neighbourhood Vet for going above and beyond in the aftermath of my cat’s passing in supporting me when technically I was no longer a client but really struggling.

I accompanied my friend who had just experienced poor survive at another vet as she needed an emergency appointment due to her pet rabbit dying once we arrived the receptionist assisted straight away with amazing care. The nurse even came to speak to my friend to answer any questions and to deal with her concerns as she had an alive rabbit with her also as she was bonded with the rabbit who sadly passed. Amazing service, for both pets and their owners."

I made some mistakes and errors of judgment with his care that I’ll always regret but on the whole he did pretty well between me and the Neighbourhood Vet.
Thank you particularly Topaz and Sean who identified two chronic health conditions and bought us priceless time together that we otherwise wouldn’t have had. Especially his hyperthyroidism after the chaos of lockdowns, pressure on the veterinary profession and what turned into the last year of his life.
The whole team here were very understanding and patient over time when I suppose I went from being fairly hands-off to very protective after my cat was bullied by truly evil neighbours at The Gardens. He developed epilepsy as a result that was only triggered by certain noises that reminded him of these incidents. I moved flats twice because of this and he ended up living on his anti-anxiety pills and other meds to 18+.
He could’ve actually been older as the shelter I adopted him from as a hefty cat in 2006 didn’t know his past and could only give an approximate age of 18 months.
My ONLY reason for 4 stars is my deep disappointment and hurt re the emergency vet information that’s available from here. My experience at the South London Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Streatham was ABSOLUTELY appalling. The emergency vet on duty on the evening of Monday 30.01.23 when my cat collapsed was devoid of empathy, he was offhand, arrogant and it turns out afterwards, when it was too late, a VERY poor communicator regarding my beloved Bunny Bear’s diagnosis, which I based my decision on to have him PTS. I now still don’t trust the diagnosis I was given at Streatham. I therefore would NOT recommend that emergency vet clinic at all. STAY WELL AWAY.
The South London Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Streatham wasn’t even close to busy on the night of 30.01.23. No other people or pets were waiting to be seen but with hindsight Bunny and I were treated like nothing more than an inconvenience and chore despite me not making a scene of any sort or any demands. I was in too much shock to cause any disruption or cause the vet on duty any trouble.
An emergency with a beloved pet is traumatic and distressing enough, without being treated with coldness and contempt. The experience has made grieving so much harder, if indeed it was and still is necessary for me to be grieving in the first place.
I’d never had an emergency with my cat before and yes, I should’ve already been prepared for one. Unfortunately, I completely panicked when my cat collapsed and I didn’t go to the closer emergency clinic in Camberwell. That said, it is my hope that the Neighbourhood Vet will reconsider their links with the South London Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Streatham and change their out of hours answer phone recording that allows callers to go straight through to Streatham. I will always wish I had not pressed the option for Streatham at approximately 19:45 out of sheer panic and desperation as my precious cat was in crisis.
If it was definitely kindest to have my cat PTS, I sincerely wish I’d been able to do this at the Neighbourhood Vet in East Dulwich instead - with people who knew him and who would’ve been clear to the best of their ability about a diagnosis and prognosis before I made an irrecoverable decision. And I have no doubt the Neighbourhood Vet would’ve treated Bunny (and me) with kindness and respect.
Thank you everyone at the Neighbourhood Vet for going above and beyond in the aftermath of my cat’s passing in supporting me when technically I was no longer a client but really struggling.

View on Google V MCGUINNESS I brought my very anxious and tricky-to-handle, beloved cat here for regular checks, treatment and advice for over a decade. He very sadly passed at 18+ years on the evening of 30th January 2023. I made some mistakes and errors of judgment with his care that I’ll always regret but on the whole he did pretty well between me and the Neighbourhood Vet. Thank you particularly Topaz and Sean who identified two chronic health conditions and bought us priceless time together that we otherwise wouldn’t have had. Especially his hyperthyroidism after the chaos of lockdowns, pressure on the veterinary profession and what turned into the last year of his life. The whole team here were very understanding and patient over time when I suppose I went from being fairly hands-off to very protective after my cat was bullied by truly evil neighbours at The Gardens. He developed epilepsy as a result that was only triggered by certain noises that reminded him of these incidents. I moved flats twice because of this and he ended up living on his anti-anxiety pills and other meds to 18+. He could’ve actually been older as the shelter I adopted him from as a hefty cat in 2006 didn’t know his past and could only give an approximate age of 18 months. My ONLY reason for 4 stars is my deep disappointment and hurt re the emergency vet information that’s available from here. My experience at the South London Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Streatham was ABSOLUTELY appalling. The emergency vet on duty on the evening of Monday 30.01.23 when my cat collapsed was devoid of empathy, he was offhand, arrogant and it turns out afterwards, when it was too late, a VERY poor communicator regarding my beloved Bunny Bear’s diagnosis, which I based my decision on to have him PTS. I now still don’t trust the diagnosis I was given at Streatham. I therefore would NOT recommend that emergency vet clinic at all. STAY WELL AWAY. The South London Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Streatham wasn’t even close to busy on the night of 30.01.23. No other people or pets were waiting to be seen but with hindsight Bunny and I were treated like nothing more than an inconvenience and chore despite me not making a scene of any sort or any demands. I was in too much shock to cause any disruption or cause the vet on duty any trouble. An emergency with a beloved pet is traumatic and distressing enough, without being treated with coldness and contempt. The experience has made grieving so much harder, if indeed it was and still is necessary for me to be grieving in the first place. I’d never had an emergency with my cat before and yes, I should’ve already been prepared for one. Unfortunately, I completely panicked when my cat collapsed and I didn’t go to the closer emergency clinic in Camberwell. That said, it is my hope that the Neighbourhood Vet will reconsider their links with the South London Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Streatham and change their out of hours answer phone recording that allows callers to go straight through to Streatham. I will always wish I had not pressed the option for Streatham at approximately 19:45 out of sheer panic and desperation as my precious cat was in crisis. If it was definitely kindest to have my cat PTS, I sincerely wish I’d been able to do this at the Neighbourhood Vet in East Dulwich instead - with people who knew him and who would’ve been clear to the best of their ability about a diagnosis and prognosis before I made an irrecoverable decision. And I have no doubt the Neighbourhood Vet would’ve treated Bunny (and me) with kindness and respect. Thank you everyone at the Neighbourhood Vet for going above and beyond in the aftermath of my cat’s passing in supporting me when technically I was no longer a client but really struggling. Correction 05/23: I recently found Bunny’s papers & he was actually approx. 2 years old when I adopted him in Oct 2006. View on Google EMILY F-M The neighbourhood vet (East Dulwich) all staff from the reception to the nurses to the doctors all showed compassion and care when dealing with sensitive situations. I accompanied my friend who had just experienced poor survive at another vet as she needed an emergency appointment due to her pet rabbit dying once we arrived the receptionist assisted straight away with amazing care. The nurse even came to speak to my friend to answer any questions and to deal with her concerns as she had an alive rabbit with her also as she was bonded with the rabbit who sadly passed. Amazing service, for both pets and their owners. View on Google V MCGUINNESS I brought my very anxious and tricky-to-handle, beloved cat here for regular checks, treatment and advice for over a decade. He very sadly passed at 18+ years on the evening of 30th January 2023. I made some mistakes and errors of judgment with his care that I’ll always regret but on the whole he did pretty well between me and the Neighbourhood Vet. Thank you particularly Topaz and Sean who identified two chronic health conditions and bought us priceless time together that we otherwise wouldn’t have had. Especially his hyperthyroidism after the chaos of lockdowns, pressure on the veterinary profession and what turned into the last year of his life. The whole team here were very understanding and patient over time when I suppose I went from being fairly hands-off to very protective after my cat was bullied by truly evil neighbours at The Gardens. He developed epilepsy as a result that was only triggered by certain noises that reminded him of these incidents. I moved flats twice because of this and he ended up living on his anti-anxiety pills and other meds to 18+. He could’ve actually been older as the shelter I adopted him from as a hefty cat in 2006 didn’t know his past and could only give an approximate age of 18 months. My ONLY reason for 4 stars is my deep disappointment and hurt re the emergency vet information that’s available from here. My experience at the South London Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Streatham was ABSOLUTELY appalling. The emergency vet on duty on the evening of Monday 30.01.23 when my cat collapsed was devoid of empathy, he was offhand, arrogant and it turns out afterwards, when it was too late, a VERY poor communicator regarding my beloved Bunny Bear’s diagnosis, which I based my decision on to have him PTS. I now still don’t trust the diagnosis I was given at Streatham. I therefore would NOT recommend that emergency vet clinic at all. STAY WELL AWAY. The South London Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Streatham wasn’t even close to busy on the night of 30.01.23. No other people or pets were waiting to be seen but with hindsight Bunny and I were treated like nothing more than an inconvenience and chore despite me not making a scene of any sort or any demands. I was in too much shock to cause any disruption or cause the vet on duty any trouble. An emergency with a beloved pet is traumatic and distressing enough, without being treated with coldness and contempt. The experience has made grieving so much harder, if indeed it was and still is necessary for me to be grieving in the first place. I’d never had an emergency with my cat before and yes, I should’ve already been prepared for one. Unfortunately, I completely panicked when my cat collapsed and I didn’t go to the closer emergency clinic in Camberwell. That said, it is my hope that the Neighbourhood Vet will reconsider their links with the South London Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Streatham and change their out of hours answer phone recording that allows callers to go straight through to Streatham. I will always wish I had not pressed the option for Streatham at approximately 19:45 out of sheer panic and desperation as my precious cat was in crisis. If it was definitely kindest to have my cat PTS, I sincerely wish I’d been able to do this at the Neighbourhood Vet in East Dulwich instead - with people who knew him and who would’ve been clear to the best of their ability about a diagnosis and prognosis before I made an irrecoverable decision. And I have no doubt the Neighbourhood Vet would’ve treated Bunny (and me) with kindness and respect. Thank you everyone at the Neighbourhood Vet for going above and beyond in the aftermath of my cat’s passing in supporting me when technically I was no longer a client but really struggling. Correction 05/23: I recently found Bunny’s papers & he was actually approx. 2 years old when I adopted him in Oct 2006.
