WELCOME SEPTEMBER!


DEAR MS BOBCATS,

Students: I am very impressed with how quickly you've adjusted to life at NMS.
Your teachers are signing your praises for completing work and your in-class
behaviors, and your parents shared with us at Back to School Night that you
actually do like coming to Middle School. Well, that's awesome because we LOVE
having you here! Keep up the great work. We hope you enjoyed today's TRACKS pull
during lunch and the surprise visit from our Bobcat. Keep submitting
fully-punched cards to increase your odds of winning a prize during lunch, and
maybe you can even score a selfie with our mascot! Don't forget to scan the QR
codes located throughout the building to recognize a staff member who's gone
above and beyond you to make you feel like you matter here!




Families: Thank you very much for attending Back to School Night. I know how
busy life with children and co-curricular commitments can be. Seeing you fill
the Middle School this week to meet and connect with your student's teachers
tells me you are invested in their successes in and out of the classroom. Dr.
Ward and I are proud to partner with you on this journey.




There are a few announcements I'd like to draw your attention to regarding
events at NMS this week:



 * On Monday, 9/12, our 8th-grade male students will attend an assembly at
   Northeastern High School called "Changing the Narrative." Additional
   information had been previously shared this week from the principal's office.
 * On Wednesday, 9/14, our entire student body will attend the kick-off assembly
   for Rachel's Challenge. NHS has offered to host us again, and we greatly
   appreciate their hospitality.
 * Also, on Wednesday, our first PIM meeting will be held in the NMS Library
   starting at 6:30 PM. We hope to see you there!
 * Lastly, NMS and NHS administration is proud to invite you to Percolating With
   the Principals on Thursday, 9/15, at 9:00, at NMS. Enjoy fresh coffee and
   conversation with the Middle and High School Administration teams. We're
   really excited to spend some time with you!






For your review, the NMS Handbook Acknowledgement form remains attached to this
newsletter, as does the information about Rachel's Challenge. I sincerely hope
you enjoy the weekend and for you, football fans, enjoy what should be a great
slate of games in Week 1. I proudly wore a NY Jets jersey today and was on the
receiving end of some pretty good banter from our students, and I enjoyed every
minute of it!

RACHEL'S CHALLENGE IS BACK!

Northeastern Middle School will host a Rachel's Challenge Presentation for all
middle school students on September 14 at 8:00 AM . Rachel's Challenge is a
501(c)3 non-profit that exists to equip and inspire individuals to replace acts
of violence, bullying, and negativity with acts of respect, kindness, and
compassion.
