DRILLING, CAVITY PROBING AND GROUTING, SHOTCRETE

DRILLING

ZAHRA GEOSCIENCES knows to drill. We’re licensed, independent and we’re
specialists. Geotechnical and environmental drilling is our forte. We undertake
to drill for geotechnical investigations for bulk earthworks projects, complex
commercial developments, large scale groundwater monitoring systems and earthing
works. With available drilling rigs, we can meet your geotechnical
investigation, sampling, and groundwater monitoring needs.

CAVITY PROBING AND GROUTING

When carrying out any development over areas underlined with LIMESTONE, it is
highly probable to encounter cavities due to its Karstic character, whether void
or in-filled. The existence of cavities poses the uncertainties of whether the
areas directly above the cavities are strong enough to withstand the load.
Therefore, cavity probing is carried out to probe the extent of the cavities.
Once these cavities are encountered, neat cement grout or mortar grout is
injected into the cavities to fill them up.

SHOTCRETE

Today, mining companies, contractors and engineers have come to rely on the
quick, effective method of pneumatically applied concrete known worldwide as
shotcrete. It’s a key component of many civil and mining projects. And smart
contractors know that if shotcrete is applied correctly using the right
equipment, additives and technical support, a solid foundation is built for a
successful project. That’s why it is so vital to work with a knowledgeable,
experienced shotcrete partner.

 DRIVING OF NAILS, WELL DRILLING AND MAINTENANCE, EARTHWORK

DRIVING OF NAILS 

Soil nailing is an economical, top-down construction technique that increases
the overall shear strength of unsupported soil in situ through the installation
of closely spaced reinforcing bars (nails) into the soil/rock. Typically, a
structural concrete facing (shotcrete) is sprayed against the excavated earth
face to connect the nails and reduce deterioration and sloughing. A common
misconception is that this structural facing is the major element of the soil
nail system. In fact, the nails do the work.

WELL DRILLING AND MAINTENANCE

Well Maintenance

Upgrading of existing wells. Cleaning and extending existing wells. Video
