Ever wondered about the price variation among UV flashlights? Low priced and
cheap UV flashlights are designed to get your attention. Vendor's know it. It's
basic psychology. But there is more to it than meets the eye.  




There is fierce competition in today's UV LED market, and since nearly everybody
is doing "me too" UV flashlight products, the pressure to drive down prices is
huge. The low "attractive" prices you see mean product costs have to be cut
somewhere to make the seller any profit. They're forced to either cut their
margin or to cut quality. And cutting quality wins every time. It's one way (and
usually the only chosen way) to sustain a profit margin for the seller. It means
higher profits for the seller but an inferior UV product for you.




There's a thriving market for factory seconds (aka factory rejects). These are
UV LEDs that didn't make the grade, are of inferior quality, and are cheaper.
These are traded rather than thrown away, to prevent the supplier losing money.
It's a lucrative cut-throat market, where the lowest price wins and
factory-seconds change many hands, often via dubious sources where no questions
are asked. We know this practice. We've been in industry. We're not in that
world. And nor do we want to be. We do not deal in factory UV LED rejects or
factory seconds.

STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?



 * What's the big deal. Isn’t a UV flashlight a UV flashlight?
   
   No. Not all are equal. And if you're not in the know, it's hard to tell the
   difference, and you'll end up with a purchase which will disappoint or won't
   fit your needs. The two most significant differences to note are UV Power and
   UV Beam wavelength. For most things UV, more power (i.e. UV intensity) is
   better, and a wavelength below 395nm is what you need to look for, else
   you'll be getting majority non-useable visible light out of the front end
   which isn't what you're paying for! Assess your requirements first, then
   select the best device.

 * Where is the uvBeast made & what's the quality like?
   
   uvBeast is designed in England, UK, by British engineers and scientists who
   are all ex-industry and have, how can we put it, an ingrained understanding
   and appreciation of the quality and service culture required to earn respect
   and credibility in western consumer markets. Stock is currently located and
   distributed in the US (with plans to expand internationally) - you can read
   more about why so, in the About Us section. Assembly & machining takes place
   in China (currently), and components are manufactured in various places in
   Asia, where for example the LED semi-conductor chips are manufactured in S.
   Korea and Taiwan. Product build is distributed in this way to make sure that
   we're always leveraging the best capabilities and component quality each
   region has to offer respectively, and if there is a better capability
   alternative, we switch to that.

 * Others also sell UV flashlights at different prices. And some look similar.
   Why?
   
   To be fair to every vendor of UV flashlights, there are just "so many"
   limited ways you can design a flashlight, so they're bound to look "similar".
   But it's the "internals" you need to look out for, and in particular the UV
   Power and the UV Beam quality. These two twins are actually what set UV
   lights apart, not the bells and whistles. You'll need to do your own
   research, but as a general rule of thumb, "you get what you pay for". Yes,
   the industry is awash with sellers who knowingly or unknowingly sell
   knock-offs and look-a-like or cloned devices, awash with inferior
   factory-seconds LEDs, awash with sellers who merely buy mass produced generic
   from online wholesale marketplaces and pass on to you, awash with
   non-specialist UV sellers who also sell garlic presses and yoga mats, awash
   with here-today-gone-tomorrow online sellers that pop-up and then vanish,
   awash with sellers where quality isn't a real priority in their commercial
   culture, need we go on? You'll need to know how to spot these to avoid any
   nasty surprises. 

 * I haven't tried many UV flashlights. How do I know yours will suit me?
   
   If you don't have much experience with UV then you'll need to know the
   attributes which separate an under-performing UV flashlight and a good one.
   Luckily, if your relatively new to UV flashlights we've already tested,
   prototyped, and validated with real world users the effectiveness of our
   models. We modified and we iterated until we designed out the inferiority of
   what users defined as "inferior UV flashlights" - it was their checklist not
   ours. Of course you must draw your own inferences, but our aim is to provide
   the best levels of UV power and UV beam quality - because that's what the
   voice of consumers told us.  

 * How do I know that this isn't just all marketing hype?
   
   That's definitely a well founded concern in today's competitive environment.
   When we started back in 2015, we decided to not hire any "skilled" marketing
   agencies who can sell snow to an eskimo. We just allowed the results of our
   efforts - our products - to speak for themselves and on their own merits. And
   so we settled on, "If we have something good to say, then just say it.
   Otherwise shut up." When we finalised all the images and tested the full
   capabilities of our devices we quickly realised that simply and plainly
   telling the truth was going to be perceived as "marketing hype". But why down
   play a good product that produces great results? Just tell it how it is and
   the product feedback and customer satisfaction will speak up for it. We stand
   fully behind our products and are wholly confident in them. So that's exactly
   how we left it. Speaking frankly, if this was all hype then we wouldn't be in
   business until now, and we wouldn't get consistently strong positive reviews
   since 2015-6. Think about it. Marketing hype is a hack. Hacks don't work if
   you want to be in business for the longer term, like us.   

 * What if I am not happy after trying your UV flashlight out?
   
   That's ok. Not every person on the planet is going to find our products the
   best fit for their needs. That's life. And in those cases we understand and
   respect that, so we don't leave you in the lurch. We've found that within 30
   days is a reasonable timeframe for someone to decide. If that's the case, and
   it's not for you, then you get your money back by contacting us with your
   purchase details and we'll take care of the rest. We're all mature,
   understanding, and civil adults, (hopefully?), so this shouldn't be a
   difficult thing. 

 * What if something goes wrong with the UV flashlight after I use it
   
   So if there is a malfunction or defect when you first try out our products,
   or even after you have used them fine before, then reach out to us. But
   before you do make sure you have a quick look at the trouble-shooting
   sections on this site (Help Center) and also the User Manual (also on this
   site) as well as the back of the product packaging and on the product itself.
   
   
   These places will give you trouble-shooting information and guidance in case
   you're doing something wrong.
   
   
   
   
   For example, for first time users, some forget to remove the plastic battery
   insulation disc (thinking the product is DOA), some put the batteries in the
   wrong way around, some don't allow the batteries to fully charge, some don't
   follow the on-board charging procedure, etc. However, if the trouble-shooting
   doesn't resolve and there's a manufacturing fault/defect, then we'll replace
   or fix the product. We've done some homework and our data tells us that one
   full calendar year is, in the main, enough time for any manufacturing defects
   to show up. (Since we check and monitor quality through process control at
   the point-of-production, we have taken the steps to ensure that onward
   defects are eliminated as much as possible). So you're covered for that
   period. If something occurs beyond that then we advise you reach out to us,
   as in rare circumstances defects can appear after that.   

 * What kind of support or troubleshooting do you offer?
   
   It's not goodbye after you buy. We're just as, if not more interested in you,
   post-purchase. That's how we got our top status for customer service and
   aftercare. You might need some advice, need to troubleshoot, or need some
   specific information. We get that. That's what a "good" business operation
   needs to be. So we've got various places where you can reach out for help and
   support, as follows.
   
   
   
   
   For any type of assistance - and easy and accessible self-service - this is
   what we have put in place for you to ensure you get yourself up and running,
   as well as for any troubleshooting during or after:
   
   
   
   
   1. On the back of the product packaging for critical operating instructions.
   Simple, but many a person is guilty for ignoring these
   
   2. Instructional labels on the device itself 
   
   3. Emailed instructions - if you gave permission upon purchase
   
   4. Complete User Manual - downloadable from our website. This covers most if
   not all issues and procedures, including any further questions you may have
   
   5. A Help Center on our website with questions and answers of the most common
   issues or queries
   
   
   
   
   Consulting the above will resolve the vast majority of queries and will be
   the easiest. quickest, and most simplest way to address and fix any issues.
   Not to mention the best use of your time!
   
   
   
   
   The most common "false alarms" are: not removing the battery insulation disc;
   incorrect battery orientation; under-charging the batteries; not following
   the correct charge procedure; thinking the battery is dead when it has just
   in sleep mode; and so on. Easy fixes. We won't mention the oft-used phrase
   RTFM, but unfortunately sometimes it can be true.

 * What about shipping? How long does it take and where's it coming from?

 * Why do you often run out of stock?
   
   The simple answer is because demand is high. The usual solution to this which
   many other sellers deploy is to simply order more from their wholesaler. But
   we don't have a wholesaler. We manufacture. It's a big difference. We don't
   buy an "unknown quality" finished product from factory xyz, or tradesman 123
   only to put a different label on it before passing it on to you (marked up).
   We have a manufacturing schedule and capacity workload where we need to
   ensure assembly, build, testing, and final quality checking meets high
   standards. There's a carefully planned and precise schedule and cycle time
   that we need to follow as responsible manufacturers before production is
   complete. A rush job doesn't do anyone any favors!
