Our Story


THE SUCCESS STORY OF RELIANCE BEGAN FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS IN 1976, WHEN OUR
RECORDS WERE HANDWRITTEN, OUR CORRESPONDENCE WAS PREPARED ON A TYPEWRITER AND
THE AVERAGE LOAN TO BUY A PROPERTY WAS ABOUT $10,000.

Much has changed since then, including average loan sizes now being well over
$1.0M but what has never changed after providing thousands of loans, are our
values and our service – to you our client. We call that your “wealth of
certainty”.

Our journey as a family business for over 45 years has been through remarkable
events in the property and financial markets. We’ve seen property booms and
busts, times when money was so tight that rates of over 20% were standard and
times when money was so plentiful that lenders were almost offering free samples
to entice borrowers.

Yes, we have witnessed a lot of changes over the decades and seen entrepreneurs,
colourful characters, institutions, and lenders like finance companies, brokers,
even banks come and go. As for Reliance, we stay the course and continue to
