These ISOs are being provided so new installs do not require a large download
from the software repository to get to current levels. If you are fully updated
then there is no reason to do a fresh installation from these ISOs but can be
handy to have should you wish start with a fresh install.

PCLinuxOS KDE Plasma works best on actual hardware. You may need to disable
kscreen2 to be able to resize screen resolution in a virtual setting.
Notification tray icons are larger by default. Night color icon fixed and Night
color is automatically activated up installation but can be disabled if desired.

The PCLinuxOS Project has announced the release of updated installation media
for PCLinuxOS. The new media carries the version number 2020.01 and contains a
fully updated system as of January 13, 2020. It is not required to do a clean
installation each month since PCLinuxOS is a rolling release. These ISOs are
being provided so new users don't have a large update to perform after
installation from a dated ISO. Please note if you plan on booting and/or
installing PCLinuxOS 2020.01 in Virtualbox then please use Virtualbox 6.1.0 or
better as it has support for the 5.4.x kernels.

Major changes: The kernel has been updated to 5.4.11. KDE has been updated:
Frameworks 5.66, Plasma Desktop 5.17.5 and Applications 19.12.1. XFCE desktop
updated to 4.14.2. XFCE now has Undercover Mode available from the software
repository to flip your desktop to look like Windows. A fun way to fool your
Window friends. The MATE desktop received many package updates. BT mouse and
keyboards should pair and work better in this release. Some font corruption
affecting a very small number of Intel systems has been mostly resolved. Many
udev rules were found scattered in various places have now been consolidated
into the proper folders.

The KDE ISOs now come in 3 sizes.

 * The mininalistic Darkstar (1 gb) features the basic Plasma desktop to allow
   the power user to fill it out with their preferred desktop applications from
   the software repository
   
   
 * KDE basic (2 gb) provides the Plasma desktop with a set of the most common
   applications for Internet, Multimedia and Graphics.
   
   
 * KDE Magnum (3.6 gb) contains a large assortment of applications with a little
   more of everything because frankly you deserve it. A great way to showcase
   what is available in Linux to people who are curious about the operating
   system.

PLEASE NOTE: if you plan on booting and/or installing PCLinuxOS 2019.10 in
Virtualbox then please use Virtualbox 6.0.14 as it has support for the 5.3.x
kernels.

The KDE versions both full and the minimalistic Darkstar contain

 * kernel 5.3.6
 * Plasma desktop 5.17.0
 * Plasma Applications 19.08.2
 * Plasma Frameworks 5.63.0

The Mate ISO was refreshed with kernel 5.3.6 and the applications and libraries
were updated to their most recent stable versions from the previous release.

The Xfce ISO's were updated to kernel 5.3.6. and a default cursor theme was
added along with some minor bug fixes and fully updated from the software repo
from the past month.

3 Utilities were added to the ISOs.

1. A weekly rpm database rebuilder to keep your rpm database in tip top shape.
2. A daily trim routine was added to trim ssd drives and keep them running
   efficiently
3. hblock gets a daily list of domains from various sources that serve ads,
   tracking scripts and malware and creates an /etc/hosts file that prevents
   your system from connecting to them. Protection from over 140,000 bad sites.

WHAT IS INSTANT MESSAGING ?

Instant messaging is a set of communication technologies used for text-based
communication between two or more participants over the Internet or other types
of networks. IM–chat happens in real-time. Of importance is that online chat and
instant messaging differ from other technologies such as email due to the
perceived quasi-synchrony of the communications by the users. Our system permit
messages to be sent to users not then 'logged on'.

IM allows effective and efficient communication, allowing immediate receipt of
acknowledgment or reply. However IM is basically not necessarily supported by
transaction control. In many cases, instant messaging includes added features
which can make it even more popular. For example, users may see each other via
webcams, or talk directly for free over the Internet using a microphone and
headphones or loudspeakers. Many applications allow file transfers, although
they are usually limited in the permissible file-size.
