N IS FOR NEUROAFFECTIVE: WORKING UNDER THE FLOORBOARDS BY RESETTING THE AFFECTIVE CIRCUITS AND OTHER INTERRUPTIVE METHODS AND DEVICES Course: N is for Neuroaffective: Working Under the Floorboards by Resetting the Affective Circuits and Other Interruptive Methods and Devices Instructor: Sandra Paulsen, Ph.D.. Approved for 3 Hours of CE Credit Fulfills License and EMDR Requirements High Resolution Video GOALS Module 3 - N is for Neuroaffective: Working Under the Floorboards by Resetting the Affective Circuits and Other Interruptive Methods and Devices In this Phase II Preparation workshop, we will examine how devices and interventions that work on a neuroaffective basis enhance preparation for (and expand the efficacy of) EMDR, which is itself neuroaffective and interruptive. Launching with an illustration of Panksepp’s seminal Affective Neuroscience created collaboratively by Paulsen and Panksepp (2012), the framework acts as umbrella to a wide range of devices and methods as “interruptive” methods. Resetting the Affective Circuits, previously covered as Step 3 of the Early Trauma protocol (O’Shea and Paulsen, 2006; Paulsen, 2017), is now covered separately here as a standalone method. There will be brief review of a number of other devices and methods that can aid in interrupting or soothing client neuroaffective functioning in your clinical practice (or for yourself). OBJECTIVES: At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to: * Define the three levels of Panksepp’s affective processing. * Reset the Pankseppian subcortical affect circuits. * List four devices that help with Neuroaffective regulation.
