In theory, that would make Jake the starter again going into next season. I am fine with that happening, but I'm not sure it is how the coaches will want it to go (no info, just guessing). This guess is not to say the coaches even prefer Riley over Jake. Rather, I can imagine them thinking that another year with Riley will allow Doman to get his feet under him, learn how to coach an entire offense (regardless of the scheme(s)) and still stay relatively competitive as a program. Again, I don't know if I buy the approach, but it makes some sense if they think they are better suited from a personnel and coaching ability perspective right now to go conservative with Riley for a year and then be better equipped to use and develop Jake down the road. They don't want to botch another year of Jake's eligibility while they learn on the job, so they learn on the job with Riley because he has a skill set that will let them "get away with it" a little better. That gives them two years of Jake (later) that could end up being better than two years of Jake (right now). Just some thoughts. * Start a related thread * Start a related poll * Reply via Boardmail Report problem with this ad yakkamole Bio page yakkamole Joined Dec 3, 2010 Last login Dec 21, 2023 Total posts 1,080 (24 FO) Report problem with this ad Messages Author Time One reason they might have Jake redshirt yakkamole 11/9/11 1:34pm And it sets up nicely for Tanner Mangum later CougFanInWA 11/9/11 1:46pm RE: One reason they might have Jake redshirt y76 11/9/11 1:51pm Well, yes...
