DOWNED POWER POLE LANDS ON TWO VEHICLES IN OKOTOKS ALLEYWAY

Okotoks RCMP, municipal enforcement, and fire services, as well as Fortis
Alberta, responded to a downed power pole this afternoon (May 23). It happened
in the alley behind 52 North Railway Street, between Lineham Avenue and Alberta
Avenue. Luckily no one was injured. Officer Raffen with Okotoks Municipal
Enforcement says a vehicle struck the pole, which landed on two parked vehicles
nearby. "The power pole snapped and came down, damaging two vehicles. At first,
we were concerned that there could still be power running through the lines and
we were concerned about the safety of some of the residents and patrons in the
area, however, Fortis has arrived on scene and said there's no significant
danger to the public right now." He's advising people to stay away from the area
as Fortis crews work to repair the damage.
