BYD noted that it will also utilise its expertise in integrated vertical supply chains to help create a green ‘ecosystem’ locally. The OEM is already operating a bus production facility in Komárom, also in Hungary, but has been establishing its passenger car retail operations in Europe and now has 230 retailer stores across 19 countries. The company offers five new models (HAN, TANG, ATTO 3, SEAL and DOLPHIN) across C to E segments, and is planning to launch three new models within the next 12 months. As well as vehicles the company has developed and produced its own Blade Battery, e-Platform 3.0 and Dual-mode hybrid power technologies. The new BYD plant will join a number of major OEMs already well established in Hungary, including Audi at Győr and Mercedes at Kecskemét. BMW also will start production of EVs and batteries at its new plant at Debrecen in 2025.
