To further build and strengthen this programme, EMBL is looking to hire a corporate partnerships expert who will take on the overall management of this programme and lead it on to the next level. The Corporate Partnerships Manager works as a member of EMBL's dynamic and successful Resource Development team and focuses on the development of EMBL's CPP. He/she works with much independence and will lead all acquisition and stewardship activities associated with the programme. He/she will ensure the longevity and further growth of the programme by defining its strategic direction, in liaison with the Head of Resource Development, the EMBL Director and in consultation with other key EMBL stakeholders who are involved in industry relations. YOUR ROLE * Communicate EMBL's premier role in molecular biology research and training to potential corporate partners; * Develop and update the strategic objectives of the CPP in liaison with senior internal stakeholders and align identification and prospecting of potential industry partners with EMBLs missions; * Proactively seek new partnership opportunities and take these from initial calling to negotiation and preparation of valid contracts, through to delivery of the agreement. Work with EMBL's legal team to ensure new corporate partner membership agreements fulfil EMBL and partner requirements and that both parties mutually adhere to the terms and conditions of CPP membership; * Account manage corporate partnerships to maximize partner satisfaction, income and lead generation. Play a key role in gaining long-term support, involving other departments where appropriate; * Cooperate with EMBL's finance office to ensure that annual CPP membership contribution payment requests are created and submitted to corporate partners in a timely fashion; * Maintain regular two-way communication with corporate partners and ensure prompt and reliable delivery of programme benefits; * Manage production of the CPP communication materials for prospective and current members; * Periodically prepare short reports or news articles about CPP events, new industry members and the contributions of the CPP to EMBL's research and training missions for EMBL publications; * Cooperate with and maintain regular communications with EMBL's External Training team to facilitate alignment of course and conference programming and planning with CPP membership recognitions for corporate partners; * Cooperate with the prospect researcher on identifying and researching prospective new partners in Europe and beyond; * Involve EMBL stakeholders, including senior leadership, research unit heads and group leaders, scientific core facilities and services, EMBL's strong alumni network, EMBLEM Technology Transfer and EMBL Ventures in lead generation for corporate support; * Supported by the Events and Stewardship Coordinator, manage the annual CPP Scientific Meeting and Networking Dinner and Founder Partner Roundtable Discussion with the EMBL Director General as well as other integral events to facilitate engagement of corporate partners with EMBL's research community as well as EICAT; * Take ownership of ensuring accuracy and ongoing data entry and curation of the Office of Resource Development's client relations management. YOU HAVE Applicants must be able to demonstrate experience and success in corporate partnership or key account management, ideally in the academic/scientific sector. They must be able to self-sufficiently take on the duties and responsibilities described above. The following qualifications and skills are required: * 5+ years of professional experience in a corporate sponsorship or key account management function; * Superb customer orientation and excellent personal skills; * Solid understanding of corporate partner needs and motivations; * Superior oral and written communication and presentation skills and experience in preparing persuasive letters, proposals, reports and presentations; * Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally; * Effective negotiating, contracting, and alliance and contract management; * Ability to think strategically and creatively; * Relevant university degree or proof of adequate professional experience; * Excellent command of both written and spoken English. YOU MIGHT ALSO HAVE * A good command of an additional European language, especially German; * Advanced training in a life science discipline and/or experience in life science products marketing; * An established network of corporate contacts.
