Last year’s total sustainable bond issuance was $928 billion with current
issuance standing at $879 billion. That means with a month left from 2023 and a
lag of $49 billion there is still a chance to overtake last year’s issuance
despite the many headwinds we have seen this year from inflation to interest
rates to geopolitical tensions. In terms of regions, Europe dominates the market
with a 47% market share, followed by Asia’s 21% and North America’s 12%.
