DAY 1 – THURSDAY 14 SEPT

SOCIAL INNOVATORS OF TOMORROW

There is a tremendous desire among our young people to leverage their talents
and work with businesses to design and scale creative solutions to social
issues. How can we best translate this passion into innovations for a positive
impact in Hong Kong?

The Social Innovators of Tomorrow programme will engage budding social
entrepreneurs in Hong Kong to discuss the imperative of sustainability within
the context of inclusive business models, inherent business opportunities for
social impact, as well as the alignment of career and skillset development
within this emerging space.

In partnership with

BESGO, CUHK

BESGO, a program backed by CUHK Business School, aims to educate and inspire the
next generation of change-makers on how social good, social innovation, and
sustainable practices can shape businesses and society’s future. With activities
like training workshops, talks, and real-world projects, BESGO helps deepen
students’ understanding of social needs and sustainability issues. By connecting
educators, business professionals, social innovators, and future change-makers,
BESGO fosters collaboration and creates shared value towards building a better
future for all.

Our sustainability goals for 2023:

 1. Increase the awareness and understanding of social and environmental issues
among students and participants by providing educational resources,
    workshops, and field visits.
 2. Foster partnerships and collaborations with local and international
organizations that align with BESGO’s mission and values, and promote
    sustainability and social good.
 3. Engage and empower students to take action and create positive social and
environmental impacts through BESGO’s programs and activities, and provide
opportunities for them to apply their knowledge and skills in real-world
    projects.

Our initiative in accelerating sustainable development in Hong Kong:

BESGO has organized various activities to promote social innovation, social
good, and sustainable practices. In the past, we have designed and produced
teaching and learning materials, conducted seminars and workshops, and
facilitated visits to community and social enterprises. We also published
feature articles and teaching cases, and presented at local and international
conferences. These initiatives aim to raise awareness, deepen understanding, and
provide opportunities for students to create real impact and foster
collaboration for a better future.

disposed after lunch disappear!)

TRANSFORMATIVE LEADERSHIP

16:30 – 17:20

Our next generation are the beneficiaries of the sustainability agenda that we
are pursuing today. Transformative leadership from youth and industry leaders
creates a collaborative platform to exchange ideas, share experiences and
co-create solutions. The collective action not only helps to build bridges
between generations and sectors, but also motivates business leaders of today to
be more accountable and proactive in driving progress towards meeting
sustainability goals.

role can young people play in maintaining momentum and driving progress in
   and outside of a company?
 * What expectations do they have of current leaders in terms of youth
empowerment opportunities? What opportunities exist for companies to create
space for young people to receive the support and knowledge that they need to
engage in the realisation of sustainability goals?
 * How can companies and organizations effectively collaborate with young people
   to co-create sustainable solutions?
 * What is the importance of challenging conventional thinking and approaches in
   creating sustainable change?
 * What are the key skills and knowledge areas that young people need to possess
to be effective change makers for a sustainable future, and how can companies
and organizations support their development in these areas?

Post-Event Actions

 * Consider how your company and industry can better engage and empower the next
generation to take the baton for our sustainability agenda.
 * Gain insights on how you can challenge conventional thinking and approaches
in your work towards sustainability, and create opportunities for people to
