Lords of the Fallen (LotF) is a new third-person dark fantasy action RPG game
and the sequel to the 2014 Lords of The Fallen game. Lords of the Fallen was
presented during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2022. It is being developed by
Hexworks and it will be published by CI Games. Lords of the Fallen is an
engaging third-person action role-playing game that offers players a unique
experience. Players can use a combination of melee and range weapons and spells
to defeat monstrous enemies. In all aspects, the game's combat system is heavily
inspired by the Soulslike genre thus, expect a challenging but rewarding
experience. Incorporated jaw-dropping visuals for both character models and its
intricate world design.



The developers made it it an exciting challenge for gamers of all levels by
paying attention to its cooperative campaign mode which allows players to
complete the game with another player. On the other hand, a player-versus-player
multiplayer mode is also available, which offers endless hours of fun and
entertainment. At the beginning of the game, players can create and customize
their own avatar according to their preference and choose from nine character
classes. Each of these Classes is unique and a master of their special
techniques and fighting style. Not only do these Classes offer extreme value,
but there will be over 100 weapons to choose from thus, players are inclined to
experiment with engaging character builds.



The game world is vast, and players can explore the world of Axiom, the realm of
the living, and Umbral, the realm of the dead, using a magical lantern. One of
its key features is players can use their lanterns to move between both worlds.
The game features an interconnected world, and players can access otherwise
inaccessible areas by visiting the other realm. Like in the Soulslike genre, if
players die in combat, they will respawn in their last savepoint, and lose the
unspent experience points. Savepoints are scarce in each region and players are
forced to be tactical to progress. According to Hexworks, the upcoming game will
boast a size five times greater than its predecessor. CI Games has confirmed
that The Lords of the Fallen will be launched for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC
via Steam.

WHEN IS THE RELEASE OF LORDS OF THE FALLEN?

The planned release date for Lords of the Fallen (LotF) is on Oct 13, 2023. Up
to this point of writing, no news for possible delays or any kind.


WHEN WAS LORDS OF THE FALLEN ANNOUNCED?

CI Games officially unveiled the game as " The Lords of the Fallen " at Gamescom
2022. However, in March 2023, it was rebranded simply as "Lords of the Fallen".
The developers disclosed that the game was initially titled " Lords of the
Fallen: The Dark Crusade, " but this name was abandoned as it didn't accurately
convey the game's status as a series reboot. The Lords of the Fallen was
announced with a trailer showcasing its barren yet captivating world along with
its dangers and unearthly beings.


WHAT PLATFORMS WILL LORDS OF THE FALLEN BE ON?

CI Games has confirmed that The Lords of the Fallen will be launched on major
platforms such as PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

 


LORDS OF THE FALLEN EVERYTHING WE KNOW SO FAR

 



Following an era of the most brutal tyranny, Adyr has been vanquished, but eons
later, his return looms on the horizon. As a renowned Lamp Bearer, venture
through both the domains of the living and the departed, confronting monumental
perils on your path. The tale has yet to be unraveled on how Adyr managed to
garner strength to rise once again. The all-new Lords of the Fallen is set 1000
years after the events of the original game, where the unfathomable return of
the Demon God Adyr looms on the horizon. The game is set in the medieval dark
fantasy era where this monstrous godly being was being restrained by the Five
Beacons of the Sentinel after its previous defeat. The said Beacons towers over
the land of Mournstead, a prominent region where the game sets. Eons after,
Adyr's dark forces festered and defiled these Beacons. Rendering Adyr's
shackle's weak and volatile.



 " You are in the presence of a god, human. "

You as a Lamp Bearer found the mysterious lamp that gives its bearer the ability
to breach two worlds. The world of Axiom which is the world of the living, and
the world of the undead, Umbral. As a bearer of an unknown special ability of
having multiple lives, you as a crusader will travel the land of Mornstead to
cleanse and revitalize the Five Beacons of Sentinels to thwart Adyr's
Resurrection. In this perilous journey, prepare to encounter monstrous and
demonic beings beyond imagination that will fit in the Dark Fantasy theme or
setting. The Crusader will not only need to have the courage to conquer these
demonic beasts but also have the will to traverse burning cities, unearthly
caves, nightmarish forests, intricate citadels, and more. 


THE REGION OF MOURNSTEAD

" I look upon you with pity my lost child. "

Mornstead is a prominent region where Lords of the Fallen will take place. A
truly iconic region where the Demon God Adyr lies. Across Mornstead's horizon,
Adyr's hand can be observed. Towering over the land. A quiet spectacle but also
an outlandish reminder of how powerful Adyr can be. The demon god's forces still
loom over the land, making Mornstead a perilous region that no ordinary human
tries to explore. Demonic beasts, fallen crusaders, faunas, and cult groups are
the inhabitants of Mornstead.



Each has their own agenda. However, all of them have one thing in common. They
are against you and they will never stop hunting you thus, come prepared. Aside
from Mornstead's inhabitants, the Five Beacons of Sentinels towers the land.
These holy towers serve as a beacon and a form of magical restraint over the
demon god and the lore suggests that Adyr's forces or minions.


THE PROTAGONIST, THE LAMP BEARER

" You never possessed the mettle for this, Crusader. "

A stout and formidable being who found the mysterious yet powerful lamp that can
traverse through the world of Axiom and Umbral. The player will assume the role
of this special crusader in Lords of the Fallen. A Crusader who can rise from
the dead when slain and known as the " Two Lives ". an invaluable ability like
no other.



The Dark Crusaders knew the existence of this special crusader and hence were
recruited to fight Adyr. How little do we know about this special crusader's
intentions? Being entrusted with the lamp is no mere coincidence and it could be
an orchestrated act or simply fate. As an individual, you as the crusader will
determine his or her destiny.


THE WORLD OF AXIOM IN LORDS OF THE FALLEN

" Mournstead has fallen... "

This is where the game shines as it allows players to explore two parallel
worlds simultaneously. Axiom is the world of the living. Take it as your
standard world to explore compared to Umbral. Axiom is filled with life and
typical inhabitants of Mournestead such as enemy soldiers, cultists, wild
animals, and more. It is by no means forgiving as Morstead is a perilous place
regardless.




THE DARK CRUSADERS

" In Light... We Walk. "

The Dark Crusaders are the individuals who keep the land of Mornstead in order
from the influence of Adyr. An elite group of warriors equipped with
state-of-the-art weaponry, masters of different fighting styles, knowledge about
sorceries, and more. Situated in heavily guarded citadels, they are always ready
to thwart the demonic forces that engulf the land.

                   

They govern the land with dignity and duty however, it is unknown whether their
intentions are pure and noble. You as a Crusader will be part of their endeavors
and tasked to journey through the land to cleanse the Five Beacons.


THE DEMON GOD ADYR

" Man finally defeated its overlord. "

A supernatural and powerful being that resembles a god. Has the ability to
command demons and other metaphysical beings. The one true enemy of mankind in
the universe of Lords of the Fallen. Mankind has sworn an oath to battle this
demonic and his minions for generations. Ultimately, mankind won the war and
slain Adyr.



Adyr's gargantuan body was laid in Mornstead and sealed Adyr with the help of
the Five Beacons of Sentinels. In the latest installment of the Lords of the
Fallen, Ardyr threatens the land with his resurrection thus, mankind acts again
by sending their Dark Crusaders on a perilous journey to stop Adyr from reigning
once again.


THE UMBRAL REALM IN LORD OF THE FALLEN

" But one light still flickers... "

Axiom is indeed dangerous in all accounts and no crusaders will be spared.
However, the Umbral Realm is the land of the dead. It is a place of untold
horrors and filled with uncanny demons beyond imagination. According to the
developers, the Umbral Realm provides top-notch challenges for those who dare.
Players will be switching back and forth between realms to progress and the
longer you stay in the said realm, the more demons will hunt you. Are you up for
the challenge?



 


LOTF GAMEPLAY MECHANICS

 

 




SOULSLIKE COMBAT

Lords of the Fallen is a Soulslike game thus, expect staple designs such as
intensive calculations when in combat. Players can observe crucial stamina
management, well-timed dodge rolls, and attacks. Expect deep and intricate enemy
attack movesets especially when dealing with elite or bosses. Like the other
Soulslike titles, players will be given the chance to overcome adversaries in a
multitude and creative ways. Such as using spells, a vast array of weaponry, or
playing with different classes. Having a handful of ways to defeat your foes
does not correlate to an easy experience. It is expected that Lords of the
Fallen will provide a decent challenge to any who's looking for this kind of
experience.




CLASSES IN LORDS OF THE FALLEN

In addition to the Lords of the Fallen intricate combat is the Classes. Players
will have the freedom to select between 9 Classes upon starting the game. It is
highly likely that these Classes only affect the starting special abilities,
stats, and equipment of a character. The overall progression will still depend
on the player's preference and playstyle. We can easily compare it to Elden Ring
where the Classes only affect the aforementioned points. In this manner, Souls
veterans will likely adjust right off the bat however for beginners or new to
the genre, it is highly suggested to know your playstyle, and picking the right
Class may affect the experience greatly.



An example would be if a player prefers switching to melee to range weapons
often, the Blackfeather Ranger is a suitable Class. As it has a bow, and an axe
as starting weapons. A mass of players will pick the Hollowed Knight on the
other hand due to its traditional sword and shield starting weapons. These are
just surface-level knowledge about how Classes operate.


EXPLORE A VAST ARRAY OF EQUIPMENT AND SPELLS

Soulslike games tend to provide a lot of items and equipment to choose from when
building characters. This is a staple identity of the genre thus, Lords of the
Fallen is no different. Prepare to explore a wide variety of selections ranging
from melee weapons such as Cestuses, traditional Swords, two-handed weapons,

Soulslike games are the meat of the genre and according to the developers, they
put considerable effort into making these fights satisfying. Exciting bosses

fallen Crusader, the protagonist acquired this mysterious lamp and was bestowed
the ability to traverse the land of the living and the dead. Not only the
protagonist can see these metaphysical worlds but also the creatures and the
untold horrors that reside within. Truly a price to pay to be the bearer of the
lamp. Having the ability to traverse these parallel worlds simultaneously is not
the only advantage that the protagonist can have. Due to the immense power of
the Umbral Lamp, In combat, the Crusader can manipulate or draw enemy spirits to
deal a direct blow to them that leads to fatal damage. Since the protagonist can
see the things that the naked eye can't, the lamp can also be a tool to
determine hidden enemy weaknesses.




GENERAL EXPLORATION IN LORDS OF THE FALLEN

Explorer Soulslike map or level layout is intricately well thought out and Lords
of the Fallen took the leap and improved the overall map progression by adding
the Umbral Realm. It is clear by now that the Umbral Realm is the realm of the
dead and players can take advantage of the said realm to progress. The general
idea of progression is to simultaneously switch between worlds if one finds a
hurdle in progression such as broken paths or bridges, the protagonist can
transfer to the other world to overcome this hurdle thanks to the Umbral Lamp
that made this possible.




MULTIPLE ENDINGS IN LORDS OF THE FALLEN

Lords of the Fallen is filled with interesting lore and elements that will
tickle Souls fans their fancy. With the game's ever growing tale, the player
will have the ability to alter the world's destiny through their actions just
like in a true soulslike fashion. Players will be able to interact with NPCs to
alter events or even their destinies. Expect to have multiple endings and
myriads of the secrets to discover.


MYRIADS OF SECRETS

Lords of the Fallen is no slouch in terms of harboring secrets. Players will
traverse two parallel worlds and on a surface level, one can determine the
intricacy of it and conclude that discovering secrets will be part of the
gameplay. Anticipate a lot of secret areas to find especially when non-existing
areas in Axiom exist in the Umbral Realm. These secret areas hordes rare
treasures that will aid anyone through their journey.




ONLINE COOP IN LORDS OF THE FALLEN

In the land of Mournstead, perils are part of the norm. As demonic beings roam
the land. Players can take them on during Solo Play or Online Coop. PVP
enthusiast does have a place in the heart of Mournstead as players can clash
with one another, just like other Soulslike titles. Players can explore a wide
variety of builds and best other players in this mode. A clash between different
playstyles and character builds is a good way to enrich the game's

     People are failing to talk about a big issue in this game and it's MULTIPLE
     CHARACTERS. I don't know if it's a glitch or intended but i made decent
     progress in my save last night and decided to start a new character to try
     some other classes, i come back to my previous save GONE. I almost don't
     feel like playing anymore cause lost progress like that in a soulslike game
     is devastating.

     I really hope this game isnt like the lanuch of titanfall 2, lanuch being
     right next to cod is death, but next to spiderman 2? blasted of the face of

     Can we please get some new info on NG+ feature? Is it like in original game
     that you can only go up to NG+2 and then you need to start fresh character
     or is it like in DS games where you can do NG+++... as much as you want
     with one character? I really hope it is not like original game. Cant find
     any info on this.
